No. The same thing happened in 2042. Portal were instantly filled with botted farm servers that have no reason to exist, simply because they can, even when the game was changed to make them not worth using, the botters didn't care and kept the servers running via scripts.
The reason is because the game runs off Amazon (at least in 2042 it was, I doubt anything's changed, maybe they're using other providers as well, in addition to any internal EA servers being used for it) AWS, and they don't want the cost of spinning up more servers that they've pre-allocated.
So in 2042 in Australia we were only allocated two portal servers at 64 players. And only a handful of 32. Anyone wanting to make their own when it was full would end up creating it in the American zone with 250 ping, making it pointless.
It made portal useless.
