Respectful Critique and Wishlist
I have played for around 100 hours now and overall I enjoy the game but there are a lot of things I wish to see addressed and from what I can see there are many others that share my same feelings. I know everything I am going to say has probably been said but I want to list concisely what I feel is wrong in the current state of the game. My hope is this post supports positive actions to be taken or continue actions already in progress in a timely fashion.
- Cheaters
- Of course they exist in the game and to a reasonable extent I assume they always will but my issue here is Javelin and enabling secure boot was supposed to greatly reduce the cheating but a quick browse on Youtube and being in game to experience first hand when someone is cheating proves otherwise.
- Cross Play
- We need to be able to turn this off as PC players. My understanding is, although I am not sure if it is true, is that console players can turn off cross play. There is an acknowledged netcode issue that affects bullets actually hitting another player, time to kill, being killed seemingly after you have gotten behind cover etc.. but from my experience a majority of the time I lose a gunfight when on my screen I clearly saw the player first, began shooting and was scoring hits it is to a player with a controller beside their name. At first I thought this solely had something to do with perhaps console players receiving net priority, last night my thinking changed drastically which is actually why I decided to sit down and write this post.
- I have to go buy a new mouse today because last night my tryusty old Logitech G600 finally decided to freak out and not work correctly. Wel lI was in the middle of playing and that was a bummer. I decided to plug in my PC/XBox controller and give that a try even though I had never used a controller in an FPS before and I knew I wasn't going to do well. So I plugged it in and looked at the mappings and didn't change a thing about the sensitivities or aim assist curve wtc. None of that. Now I want to be clear that I used to be very very good at FPS games but I'm 50 now and have just simply lost some reaction time over the years and am in no way shape or form a top player with my M/K. At best I'm a decent player that can have really good rounds or really bad ones. First few spawns I basically just got uber owned because it felt so wierd to even move. After that I decided to just go slow. To my surprise when I started running into players, I was killing them. Somehow. I would kind of sort of clumsily point in theoir general direction and fire and was hitting them. Red headshot markers amidst and in my mind I'm thinking, what the heck I don't even feel like I was pointed at the person's body let alone the head. Mind you never using a controller I am very squirrely and if you were watching a stream you'd be laughing yourself to tears. I cannot use these things, I'm just not accustomed to it. So I continued and found myself on the other side of it. Of course I died a lot, but during that time I could see people having me dead to rights and I still killed them even though I wildly overcompensated trying to move the stick to aim because I really really suck with a controller. It felt like I just was able to sweep my crosshair over them anywhere near them and scored hits and headshots. Hip fire ADS, didn't matter. It really felt like I had a clear advantage using a controller. I played 3 rounds of this and while I did very poorly overall, I felt like every single kill I did get was complete BS. I was able to ADS and move my crosshair accross where smoke had been layed and it was very noticble when the "slow down" was happening and aim assist was engaging. What do you know when I felt that happen and fired I got hit markers through the smoke even though I couldn't see anyone was there, the controller "told me they were". Now when I think about someone who is experienced with a controller and are actually good at it and know how to tweak the aim assist and set the curve it makes a whole lot of sense why 90% of the time when I get crapped on in a gun fight its by a console player. I know this sounds like whining but IMO this is not fair at all to M/K players who rely on raw input. Please make it so we can opt out of crossplay.
- Netcode Issue
- This has been acknolwedged and it is very noticible to me. Some matches are better than others but whe nit's bad it is really really bad. It's as if I am somewhere else in hte virtual space on my opponent's screen. Maybe it's a meter but it makes a difference as to why at times I will round a corner crouching, not spotted but still there's a gut who seems to already be shooting me because he somehow saw me first. Please get this fixed asap.
- Levels not advancing
- A few times I have leveled only to find I actually reverted to the beginning of the level I just completed. What I mean for example, last night before my mouse crapped out I was level 96. The bar reached all hthe way to the right and I leveled to 97 and got the whole animation but then my progress bar was again 96-------97 so I had to progress to 97 again. This has happened to me something like 5 or 6 times I believe at least from when I started noticing.
- Challenges not counting
- Sometimes it feels like progress in challenges is not counting. For example it'll say I need 20 kills with X. Not in a match, just total at some point. At match end I have 4 of 20. I quit to menu and go look at the challegne and it is back to 0 of 20. Again, I am not talking about ones that say "in a match".
Please don't take this as I am someone who is just complaining. I am voicing what I consider to be valid concerns in game I enjoy and have hope of what it can be in it's potential.
