Results from the BF6 Stat/Attribute Tuning Modification Survey!
Hi all! Over a month ago I advertised a survey that my colleagues and I created to gauge the interest in and familiarity with attribute and stat modding as it relates to BF6 Portal. Life then decided to throw up a few impediments but I'm happy to say I've navigated through those and as such I've attached the video of the survey results.
In summary, an overwhelming majority of you have played gamemods with other games and most of you have even used editing software to make your own! Virtually all of you have found yourself wishing you could change a gameplay element at some point which is little surprise given how BF6 is a game where even the smallest of changes can have a massive impact on the experience.
There's a evenly distributed support among the various focuses with some preferring just a make a few small changes, some wanting sweeping overhauls and others still wanting it just for testing and experiments.
Over 2/3's of you said you were either moderately or extremely craving a stats editor and I suspect those numbers would be even higher if we redid the survey given all the unaddressed balance issues we've encountered since release.
About 2/3's of you were also disappointed with the pace at which DICE releases patches to address balance issues and again I suspect that number would be higher if the survey were re-administered today.
While there are many issues with BF6 I'd like to briefly focus on two to illustrate how a stat editor could/couldn't help. One is the MAV/Hammer issue whereby you can exploit a bug that will allow you to ascend to places not intended to by devs. A stat editor would likely not be able to fix something like this. A stat/attrib editor can change numbers and edit flags but it does have limitations.
The second issue is the Mr Missile Laser Painting issue whereby the IFV can fire it's lock on missile at laser painted aircraft who in turn have no defense nor warning and whose counter measures are totally ineffective. The hit always results in a kill making this comically overpowered. This issue absolutely could be fixed with a stat editor. You could adjust the missile speed and/or maneuverability, adjust the missile's "time to live", or even prevent the laser painter from targeting aircraft. There are a lot of potential solutions, virtually all of which are superior than the current broken paradigm.
If you'd like to see a stat/attrib editor for Portal then please make some noise here and consider sending messages to the devs on Twitter/X.
