Spawn Beacon Changes

Hello!

I have been a  fan of the battlefield series since BF3 and recently put 14 hours into the BF6 beta and genuinely had a lot of fun! I think it's on track to be an excellent rendition of the Battlefield format with some exciting new features!

That being said, it came to my attention that the spawn beacon would be moving from the recon to the assault class. As somebody who almost exclusively plays as an aggressive recon, I ask for you to please reconsider this decision. I understand that a lot of players are frustrated by campers who don't play the objective and sit far away from the action, but this has forever been a problem with individual players and not necessarily a drawback of the recon class.

Personally, I have always felt that recon class is best played as aggressive infiltrators who support pushes on objectives via flanks or offering covering fire. Removing the respawn beacon from the recon class would **bleep** this specific play style and give the assault class access to a piece of equipment that, in my opinion, would damage class balance. While the assault class is designed to push and capture objectives, they are typically on the front lines and therefore do not have a need for the additional spawn points.

Furthermore, the assault class already has access to a second primary weapon, adrenaline, grenade launchers, and more tools designed for fast-paced, front-facing conflict. As such, they are not traditionally best-suited to flank enemy objectives but rather to push the front line forward. Recons, on the other hand, have always been about intel gathering: motion sensor, spawn beacons, and spotting are all key elements for a successful recon player. Having a spawn beacon gives adept recon players the ability to gain information about enemy objectives via trial and error. Did your first flank not work? Well now you have a motion sensor down, have spotted several enemies, and can try a different approach. Persistently distracting enemies from behind will also allow for openings for other classes to push through and capture the objective.

Finally, as a brief aside, if BF6 continues with an open weapon system, the problem of campers should theoretically persist as the assault class now has access to sniper rifles.

I've attached a link to a reddit post that also thoroughly explains some of these ideas. Although I am not the author, I think they make some excellent points about how the spawn beacon has traditionally functioned.

I hope you all seriously reconsider this change, as I am very much looking forward to October 10th.

Kind regards!

I'm not sure why it bleeped out, I think I said "ruin" lol

  • I agree 100% the spawn beacon is a vital tool to recons using motion sensors to sneak in behind enemy lines and provide a flanking opportunity to your squad aswell as provide intel to your team about enemy movements.

  • Agreed. I don't like the drone and stuff like that, and will probably not play recon at all if they lose the spawn beacon (which better fits a more conservative, thoughtful playstyle).

I would like to see Assault instead get health and defibs, which better fit it's front line anti infantry role, while Recon is more of a passive, sneaky class, focused on spotting and ambushes.

  • Legit, I also pretty much exclusively play battlefield to play aggressive recon in breakthrough and rush. It gives me the ability to go deep behind the lines, and take out tanks and other vital targets.

Now I have to rely on a squad mate putting a beacon down, which assault players will be to focussed on the front line to want to flank and not shoot at someone. They should have kept the medic role. Surely the back of map sitting snipers is such a minority it's a non issues as i've won just as many games with useless snipers on a hill as I have with useful ones.

Dice please keep the beacon on recon or at least make both classes get it, as you did with C4 for support and recon in BF4. This decision really kinda making me reconsider buying the game. I the best fun in battlefield in years in the beta playing aggressive recon with beacon like I did in BF4.

I hear that role separation. I, too, play recon rather excussively because it suits my habitual personality. But, I feel that spawn beacon should be squad leader exclusive gadget. Like it originally, when first introduced, was in BF2142. Squad leader is the role who should lead players to action and control re-spawn locations imo.

This is why assault getting it is little bit more wiseful decision since assaults are "center of action"–kit pushing towards objective with their offensive power, instead of scout who is direct action avoiding, wary kit moving behind lines.

  • I don't mind giving the spawn beacon to the assault, but what does the Recon get in return? I'm so surprised that they've not addressed this yet.

Because the chat filter on this forum is more strict than a parent that's raising a 3 year old.

  • This is a completely pointless exercise with open weapons. They have moved the spawn beacon to assault, but allow them to equip a sniper rifle anyway. So instead of having recon sniping from the edge of the map and using the beacon, we will have assault sniping from the edge of the map and using the beacon.

I can't say im surprised but confirmed kill and sweet spot skills helps in making up for becon loss.

agree that assault shouldn't have it but no matter who else you give it to, open weapons destroys the balance regardless.

Agree that squad leader should have it. But becon would be rotating constantly between player (classes). How would beacon be added to the game? Added to gadgets as an option or automaticaly replace 1 of the player gatget.

Technically they can keep adding paths like squad leader or RF infantry but unless they do a better job at balancing the units, it could make things worst.
