Spotting needs to be changed to support smaller maps

I don't play conquest or similar modes as it's not what I enjoy.  I am typically a fan of medium scale infantry battles, limited vehicles, etc.

The maps are undoubtedly small.  In my opinion this directly conflicts with the typical style of a battlefield game where you can make moves with a chance of being seen, but not a guarantee.

With the current maps being as small as they are, it feels like spotting should be changed.  When player numbers hit the 24v24 range in attack and defend, breakthrough, or other medium scale modes, players simply can never have any form of stealthy movement.

Things that seem to contribute to this issue are:

  • Small Map Design
    • Map funnel points
    • Lack of map diversity and/or cover
    • Unbalanced map design of capture points or areas and spawn points
    • Flank route out of bounds issues related to map design
  • Recon
    • Auto spotting based on scoping
    • Too many recons due to sniper rifles being point/click with little skill involved
    • Drones mass spotting
  • General
    • Lack of manual spotting required
    • Death cam/overview reveals players
    • No spotting and aiming/firing combined key binds allowed

How can this be improved?  This is a tough one because spotting is a core feature in Battlefield but feels like it is wrong in BF6.

  • Limit number of targets a player can spot
  • Limit number of targets a drone can spot.  I typically use one like a command center, guide players via voice chat
  • Remove thermal from drones making it more difficult
  • Increase scope glint of snipers to make them more obvious (it should be difficult to snipe)
  • Restrict number of targets a recon can spot with a sniper scope
  • Reduce the number of spotted targets a player can see (but keep them on the minimap or map)
  • Add an FOV or cone of vision to seeing spotted players.  If you're not looking directly at an area, the red spotted icon shouldn't show up on the far side of your screen
  • Being spotted drops off of a player instantly if they are behind cover and nobody can see them.

Maybe this could be fixed with map design updates.  Regardless of addressing spotting, map design updates should happen.  Most maps are not good at the moment in their current state.
