Suggestions for Improving Gyro Controls in BF6

After testing the gyro controls in BF6, I found several areas that urgently need improvement for the system to be viable in normal gameplay.

Currently, assigning gyro directly to camera movement disables the right stick, making it nearly impossible to achieve a comfortable control setup. It’s also not intuitive that players need to shake the controller in the button assignment menu to bind gyro to view movement — most users would never realize this on their own.

In addition, the lack of a “reset view” function for gyro means that whenever the controller’s orientation drifts due to recoil or movement, players must manually readjust the view, hold the “gyro off” button, and physically return the controller to neutral. This process is extremely inconvenient and prevents proper gyro-based gameplay.

To summarize, I’d like to suggest:

  1. Adding a clear in-game explanation for how to set up and use gyro controls.
  2. Allowing dual input for camera movement (gyro + right stick).
  3. Providing separate sensitivity settings for gyro and right stick.

At this stage, it’s practically impossible to play the game comfortably using gyro controls.

I strongly hope these issues can be addressed as soon as possible to make gyro a truly usable option for all players.

Thank you for your attention and for your ongoing efforts to improve Battlefield.

For many of us it's not about competition, but rather immersion and comfort. Have you ever used Gyro? Gyro is not meant to replace your analog stick; it's just an additional type of input method, which allows you to fine tune aiming with your physical hands, while you rely on the joystick for the more broad movements. It is really fun to use because the motion control is naturally intuitive, and I personally get more immersed because it kind of simulates the movement of aiming a gun with your actual hands. Think of it like using a driving wheel for racing games, or like using your hands in VR shooters. I've personally been a fan of Gyro ever since they had Gyro sniping on Killzone 2 back on PS3, which was a ton of fun back then.

I do agree that reduced recoil for controller players is unfair, and wouldn't mind seeing that addressed, but that is an entirely separate issue unrelated to gyro implementation. If gyro is really that much of a concern of to the wider community (which I honestly doubt), they can nerf or disable aim assist even to please players like yourself when Gyro is in use. FYI, tons of gyro players don't even use aim assist, as they have a better time simulating mouse input (look up the alpakka controller for instance). As I stated, my primary concern is the 'feel' and fun factor. I find gyro more fun, and intuitive, and believe it should be a standard option in games on all platforms across the board. If I was concerned with competitive performance I would probably have switched to keyboard and mouse years ago, but I grew up on consoles and prefer controller + gyro. Many multiplayer shooter games like CoD, Fortnite, The Finals, etc. have had full on gyro + stick implementation for several years, without it being a problem.

I think it just comes down to a lot of misunderstanding. Both on the BF6 development side in regards to how they've misunderstood proper gyro implementation; and also, some misunderstanding on the player side, with people like yourself that think it's some sort of magic advantage, when in reality, mouse and keyboard players still dominate when you look at the big picture.

Either/or seems the best to me. Probably to most of your competition. Gyro aim, plus joystick, plus aim assist, plus reduced recoil. Nah. What makes you think you should have it so easy?

Bumping this thread for awareness. Gyro is still largely unusable in this current state. We need the ability to use the aiming stick AND gyro, not either / or.

  • Yes I also love this game but with this serious issue I stop playing it.

I bought this game expecting comfortable gyro controls on PS5, but I’ve stopped playing because of this issue. I really hope it gets resolved.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I really want to play, but it’s nearly impossible
