Suppression should have a real purpose in Battlefield.
Suppression should have a real purpose in Battlefield.
I’m not asking for Battlefield to become a milsim, nor am I asking for random bullet deviation where your crosshair is on target but your shot still misses. I understand why players disliked that.
What I am asking for is that sustained incoming fire should make it more difficult to line up a precision shot. If I’m putting rounds around a sniper’s position, there should be a meaningful effect—scope sway, flinch, visual stress, breathing disruption, or another mechanic that encourages them to stay in cover or reposition.
Right now, it feels like I can suppress someone all day, watch bullets crack past their head, and they can still calmly line up a perfect shot as if nothing is happening. At that point, suppression doesn’t feel like suppression—it feels like wasted ammunition.
I’m not trying to single out snipers. This applies to anyone trying to return accurate fire under sustained suppression. Battlefield has always been about teamwork, combined arms, destruction, and controlling the battlefield through tactics. Suppressive fire should be another tool that rewards teamwork and helps squads advance, not a mechanic that feels largely meaningless.
I’m not asking for perfect realism. I’m asking for a mechanic that gives Battlefield a stronger tactical identity. If suppression doesn’t influence an enemy’s decision to stay in cover, reposition, or take a more difficult shot, then it isn’t really fulfilling the role it’s supposed to play.
