Thanks Dice, You absolutely ruined shotguns.

As the title states this is a thank you letter to Dice for listening to COD players and ruining the shotgun. There is absolutely NO Reason to use it ever. Just use the SMG. It is better than Shotguns at CQB, it is better than rifles at medium range. Only weapons that it doesn't compete against are Sniper Rifles and LMG/MMGs And that is just a matter of Range and Ammo Capacity respectively. Outside of that have a great time in SMGField everyone!

I was getting yeeted by shotguns last night. Seems to be working just fine to me still. /shrug

Turn a corner and a guy 2 feet in front of me instadeath.

  • They work perfectly well as intended. OHK at very close ranges. Outside very close range they shouldn't have OHK. Agree that on most maps you may as well just run SMGs

Shotgun mostly works only when you are standing or going directly against enemy but if you try to strafe and shoot with it, you can't hit anything. Same when you are trying to hit somebody moving sideways, no hit. It is useless weapon and that is why it is not used but SMG is.

  • I've had no problem with them, they 1 shot close up and have a pretty decent range where you can still hit people. It could be your playstyle. You have to flank and be hyper aggressive while going from cover to cover. What attachments do you run?

  • Not sure what this has to do with CoD, but I guess people these days need something to blame, even if it doesn't make any sense.

I don't particularly see the issue with shotguns, other than the hipfire reticle not being representative of the actual spread. It pays off to be more accurate than the reticle suggests.

My experience with the starter shotgun is that it's able to one-shot kill people upto about 15 meters. Within 0-5 meters I'd rely on hipfire and anything beyond that range, it's definitely worth it to ADS, as that significantly reduces the spread.

It is generally better at CQB than SMGs as long as you force engagements where you can easily go in and out of cover. Because you do need an escape plan if you miss your first shot.

It's true that SMGs are currently quite strong. I agree that assault rifles that are underwhelming compared to SMGs at close to medium range.
