The current XP boosts feel like gambling... Here is how I would change them.
they have a very limited duration
They still tick outside active matches
What all this mean?
- Making good use of a boost depends on your luck with allies and enemies. If the enemies give you a harder time or your allies are chimps you will progress less with the same boost.
- You can lose less or more previous minutes of the duration of the boost depending on how long matchmaking will take as well as how long it will take for the server to be populated enough.
- Every break you take for any circumstances including a visit to the toilet (DICE, are you trying to actually get people to play with a bucket below them?) or any other things that might occur, will end up being wasted boost time.
For that I propose a change to the boosts. Instead of a [limited duration + unlimited XP in that time] gamble, I think it would be better for the boosts to be have unlimited duration and a be limited by how much XP you can get from each boost in total.
This would eliminate any problems with a bad luck with the teams, matchmaking or extenuating circumstances. Each time I use a boost I would know how much I would benefit from it
As things are right now, I only use the XP boosts to stack them with the 2x XP event and even then I can get screwed by a team that is spawn trapped in the first Breakthrough sector or cannot hold their sectors and reaches a quick end.
