The positional audio and especially footsteps are HORRENDOUS

I've never experienced a game that has positional audio as awful as BF6. I've tried adjusting every audio setting in a nearly complete set of permutations but no combination works.

The positioning is horrible to the point it feels like the source might as well be swirling around randomly. Occlusion through walls feels random. Some explosions or gunshots will sound like they're right next to me while being 100 feet off simply because the source and I both happen to be indoors albeit in completely separate buildings.

Trying to use footsteps to determine where someone is approaching from probably gets me killed as often as it helps as frequently the sound will trick me into thinking they're coming from an area they are not. Judging distance with footsteps is guessing at best as they're disproportionately loud and occlusion through walls and floors is next to non-existent.

The worst by far is trying to figure out where a helicopter flying overhead is, the mix might as well be mono, trying to position a copter from the audio is at best just guessing.

  • The sound in this game is terrible. It does not matter what you use, you have zero chance of knowing where anyone is coming from.

Silent tanks, omnidirectional helicopters and confusing footsteps!

It will not be fixed soon. Previous builds somehow had better sound positioning. Now everything is strangely muted.

  • We have been complaining about this since release. I'm not trolling, this is by far the worst sound I've ever experienced in any game! Hoping they'll do a complete overhaul and fix this mess soon!

Its truly shocking how it can be this bad, and with all the other threads on this subject, it just shows how little they care even with all this reporting.

I feel this is my last BF game.

They LIED to us with all the "going back to BF roots" crap.

I found the best method is just turn off BF3 3D audio and let your PC hardware do it instead. Turn down all the commander voices and other audio. Still sucks but it is better than it was.

  • I'm rocking the Sennheiser GSP 602 paired with the EPOS Sennheiser. They might as well be $5 headphones from 7 Eleven.

All I can say is DTS and Dolby are the only supported surround (speaker\ headphone). There are some tweaks that can help, but yea mostly it sux. You can either hear footsteps everywhere or nowhere, yet enemy tank can be right next to you in silence.

I must have spent 25 hours trying various combinations, even changed sound card. The DICE surround sound person did a terrible job which is weird as they got it sorted in BF2042 on the same engine.

It's actually crap, I've had more fun talking **bleep** here on the forums than I have actually playing the game. Between the terrible hit registration and me hearing footsteps in my left headphone only for them to show up in front of me or to my right. The game is garbage, they just rehashed the same trash every other year with a different number behind it. Want to see battle trash ever be good again? Use your wallet and don't buy the next crap that comes out

It won't be fixed ever. EA doesn't give a **bleep** about your gameplay experience or how much fun anyone has, it's all about money, and they have it. Now. They're working on the next battle trash and hoping you're going to buy it for $100 to pop
