The positional audio and especially footsteps are HORRENDOUS

I've never experienced a game that has positional audio as awful as BF6. I've tried adjusting every audio setting in a nearly complete set of permutations but no combination works.

The positioning is horrible to the point it feels like the source might as well be swirling around randomly. Occlusion through walls feels random. Some explosions or gunshots will sound like they're right next to me while being 100 feet off simply because the source and I both happen to be indoors albeit in completely separate buildings.

Trying to use footsteps to determine where someone is approaching from probably gets me killed as often as it helps as frequently the sound will trick me into thinking they're coming from an area they are not. Judging distance with footsteps is guessing at best as they're disproportionately loud and occlusion through walls and floors is next to non-existent.

The worst by far is trying to figure out where a helicopter flying overhead is, the mix might as well be mono, trying to position a copter from the audio is at best just guessing.

  • The sound in this game is terrible. It does not matter what you use, you have zero chance of knowing where anyone is coming from.

Silent tanks, omnidirectional helicopters and confusing footsteps!

It will not be fixed soon. Previous builds somehow had better sound positioning. Now everything is strangely muted.
