The smokescreen in this game seems very inconsistent

I have lost count of the times that people that I cannot see, are able to know where I am at within the smokescreen.

I suspect that the issue has something to with them seeing a different less dense version of the smoke I see on my own client.

Smokescreen is the one thing you got right in previous games too. 

I think that it needs to be looked at

Also reminder that more of the classes should have smoke grenades.

  • UP_Hawxxeye​ I remember DICE making smoke server-side instead of client-side. I don't know if they reverted that change in BF6.

    There's 4 possible reasons I can think of for getting shot in smoke if it's server-side.

    1. Someone's wallhacking.
    2. There's a game bug with smoke and it's not working correctly.
    3. Someone's blind firing into the smoke and looking for hit markers.
    4. Low video settings allow seeing through smoke more easily.

     

    If the same person is killing you over and over again in smoke, I'd go with wallhacker.

  • I've noticed the opposite situation as well. Players that are inside smoke just shooting at me, while I can't even see them. I couldn't tell you what the underlying cause is though.
