The Terrible state of Jets

Since Battlefield 6 has released, jet gameplay has been beyond painful. Even now, after a promotion dedicated to Top Gun, jets are still nowhere near the Battlefield standard. Here's why...

1. Bugs
Whilst we understand that new things can't always be perfect, the inability to correct these mistakes is truly baffling. Initially jets dealt with the IFV laser guided missile bug which saw an entire month pass before you removed it from the game, not fixed just removed. So for a month, gameplay suffers for it to not be fixed, why was it not removed sooner?

Currently there are multiple bugs affecting the jet gameplay which has only declined with the introduction of the Top Gun theme. As well as this there are features still present since launch which have not been addressed. Why is there no vertical or distance cap on missiles? Why are missiles still travelling through flares?  Why does the new HAM-88 missile travel across the map and hit an enemy with no warning? Why does the interceptor jet have a 1-hit TOW missile for the WSO? Why does the TV missile go completely dead sometimes? The big question - Why has none of this been addressed and how long are you going to let gameplay continue to suffer?

2. Skill Gap
Flying well on Battlefield is one of, if not the most, rewarding role on Battlefield. The skills required take time to perfect but produce the most satisfying results. Skills like control, gunnery and situational awareness do not come easy. Whilst encouraging players to involve themselves in the jet gameplay is a great thing, the gameplay does not need to cater to them. Adding a 'War Thunder' style camera and controls, removing the skill of situational awareness, only cheapens the skill gap and taints the rewarding elements of flying. Instead, newer players should be given more options to practice and improve, more dedicated ways to climb the skill ladder.

3. Content
Truly the heart of the matter when it comes to Battlefield 6 and one of the primary reasons why the title has failed us fans and an issue ever more apparent when looking at the jet content. The fact an air radar and heatseaker missiles were not featured in release is a testament to the neglect of the jets. Finally, Season 4 blesses us with some content only for it to be plagued with bugs and more neglect. Clearly there has been some massive breakdown in the playtesting process for Carrier Strike to be released with the ability to capture ALL enemy vehicles with no base defense or out of bounds. After Blackwell fields failed abysmally one would hope that playtesting would prevent such flaws making it into gameplay.

It's hard to get excited about flashy cut scenes and themed skin packs when the foundational experience of the game remains broken. While cinematics and cosmetic updates look great in a marketing trailer they feel superficial when we are still struggling with unresolved issues at the core.  All of the above signals a massive misplacement of priorities which has eroded community trust and only a genuine commitment to fix this title will restore community faith in the franchise.
