Many people mistakenly believe cheating is exclusive to PC, but it is a significant issue on consoles as well.
PS5 players have been found cheating in Battlefield 6, primarily through the use of hardware-based adapters like the Cronus Zen.
Let's not conflate hardware adapters with software cheats.
All a hardware adapter can do is automate what is physically possible (or near impossible) with controllers. For example, rapid fire scripts automate trigger pulls as fast as the controller/console will allow. Often, the rate of trigger pull is significantly faster than a human can manage. Add to this a script that slightly pulls down the gun with each firing and you have an anti-recoil cheat.
Other abilities of hardware adapters is to automate other actions - jump, drop, slide, etc - to create near impossible game play.
PC cheats include auto-aim, ESP, damage modifiers, etc. which IMHO are a far bigger problem. Both are bad but, as a Console main player, I avoid PC games because software cheats are game-breaking.
Hardware cheats are probably a soft/easier target for game publishers because they are more easily detected. I would be more impressed if publishers really focused on software cheats.
