Weapon bloom is ridiculous

After a few hours of gameplay, it’s clear that weapon bloom is currently over-tuned. I understand the intent. It’s meant to prevent guns from feeling like laser beams at all ranges and to encourage slower, more deliberate movement like crouching or going prone. But in its current state, it’s just too aggressive.

There are moments where I’m shooting at moving targets 30 meters away with an AR, clearly on target, and the bullets simply don’t connect. I get why bloom exists, but when half of your gunfights feel frustrating because your shots aren’t landing despite solid aim, it takes the fun out of the experience.

There are other ways to balance weapons without making them feel unreliable. I’m not a dev, so I won’t pretend to know how much it needed to be adjusted, but from a player’s perspective, it seems a 20 to 30 percent reduction in bloom across the board would likely go a long way toward improving the feel of gunplay.

At the end of the day, it’s a game. It should be fun. Right now, bloom is getting in the way of that.

  • Nicely put. Bloom doesn't need to be removed completely but toned down significantly, as you said. Some level of bloom allow for gun diversity in terms of performance, but the current level of bloom interferes way to much with mid range engagements, where ARs are supposed to shine

This is a server desync issue. They need to fix server issues first and foremost. I'm sure the weapon bloom exacerbates the desync even more, so fixing the servers, might actually make the bloom feel less punishing.

Wasn't this issue complained about a lot in both BF5 (was solved there) and BF 2042? Seems like they forget and keep making the same mistake over and over again, it's hopeless.

He's talking about bullet deviation, somehow the term for this phenomenon has changed to "bloom" which does fit graphics more, but the lighting is also a major problem yes.

  • I agree. It seems like the lighting has been adjusted, not just for the bloom issue, but for the entire game. I think the intensity has been increased throughout the game. This is because white burn occurs. Adding bloom to that, it's painful to the eyes. Also, the colors of objects are distorted, eliminating natural gradations. I think the beta's visual excellence was ruined by the overall brightening settings to make it easier to spot enemies.

  • the blooms horrible. all you have to do is bang a 4x scope on and go firing range and watch them leave the sight picture

Not sure if this is related but what is anoying to me is when you're getting shot at, there’s this strange delay that’s hard to describe. So many times, you think you’ve made it to safety. Ducked behind a wall or rounded a corner only to suddenly drop dead a second later. It’s like the game registers the hits with a wierd delay.
