Wet Work Constructive Feedback - 4/10 - Questionable Choices!
The Good:
- The New Unit Steel Talon and their designs.
- Casual Battle Royale (I dislike the mode as a whole, but this is more bearable and interesting).
- The "Event" challenges actually giving us skins and useful items to work for (mostly), without having to pay stupid amounts of money on the store.
Deep Breath, now...
The Bad:
- Vehicles. Tank controls feel extremely tedious, inconsistent, and seem to either greatly resist RPG or explosive weaponry, or die instantly. I felt personally there was more challenge previously, whilst the heavy weapons were albeit underpowered. Also, why are they now driving at lightning speed?
- Gunplay. While the changes are ok-ish, I still feel as a casual player that unless you're using anything rapid fire then sidearms, shotguns, and anything in-between no longer hits as hard. Snipers bullet drop has been significantly damaged by the changes, dropping far too soon.
- MATCHMAKING. Still getting thrown into rapid fire rounds of unbalanced teams. This has been a colossal issue on this title since the beginning, and with each update, it feels neglected. It will never be perfect, but it was never this bad on previous titles.
- Netcode. Improved for sure, but not enough on PS5. I'm still routinely getting shot through walls. As a layman player, it still feels like it's the same.
- The New Unit being a purchase. Why couldn't they be in the new battlepass alongside Dagger? There was a lot of pointless AI generated rubbish in the pass, such as weapon charms and stickers, when skins are much more enticing to work towards.
- The store pricing. As always, strange and expensive choices of pricing, forcing you to buy lots of filler items we don't need, hiking the prices up, rather than just letting us pick skins we want. Not a fan of this business model, it feels as always with EA, exploitative.
- The assault class for REDSEC. The VL-7 smoke class is still there, despite the mode no longer featuring those short lived additions.
- Contracts in conquest. With matchmaking as bad as it is, one team steamrolls the other, as per usual. Therefore, rapidly focusing on contracts to do on the side seems pointless, as it's clear the team wants more of a COD lightning speed feel to matches.
- The FOMO temporary mode model. Why spend so much development time making a mode that will then be thrown in the bin, if players don't enjoy it enough? With the games issues, they won't want to spend time on temporary modes as much anyway, making them even more unpopular, therefore meaning that the team won't return them anytime soon. More time on throwaway modes, less time on fixing glitches. (Night vision mode case and point). Temporary modes are all well and good, but when the core pillars of battlefield are broken and underdeveloped, why should we invest time into modes and challenges that will only be around for a fortnight?
- Tactical Obliteration. It feels very lacklustre compared to the regular mode. Saying that, the severe bugs have made it difficult to get into many matches.
Glitches:
Just like across the season so far, glitches are still extremely rampant in this update.
PS5 black screen crashing. Loading into the events, only to get stuck on a character skin selection screen, which then shows NATO skins for PAX and visa versa.
Server laggy and stuttering (no icons being displayed). Music refusing to stop playing when matches start or end. Textures and lighting going wrong on REDSEC. Tonnes more to mention.
After reporting these earlier in the season, they've not had any response or recognition, and I'm still seeing them regularly. The crashing is making it nigh unplayable.
Overall, despite the promises of the dev team, the updates still miss the mark each and every time, and continue to drip feed us content or fixes that should've been in the title at the start, and then call it "updates".
Here's a new melee weapon. Here's a temporary mode which will vanish in two weeks to maybe never return. Here's a new bike.
It's some of the right things, but not enough, sandwiched between masses of bugs. As always, needs urgent work!
