Why do you no longer keep momentum when ejecting from a plane?

Recently I have been attempting to perform a rendezook so as to aquire the dog tag but have recently discovered that the jets no longer keep your momentum when you eject. This has resulted in it being nearly impossible to aquire such a dogtag with the millions of variables at play. Before hand you could fly level and eject and then enter your plane, now you can only fly straight up into the air exposing yourself to everyone and more than likely die. Why was the momentum removed and will it ever be brought back?
