Audio sounds like speakers with water damage... awful tinny sound.

Basically the title. I know it's not the speakers themselves because everything else sounds great on them. The game audio on the other hand sounds like I'm hearing it over a phone receiver. None of the settings I've tweaked have made any difference. Please help. How can I fix this?
