Battlefield 6 / Frostbite Engine — Ongoing
I genuinely love this game, but the state of optimization and stability since recent updates has gotten to the point where it's actively damaging the experience — and potentially hardware.
System specs:
- CPU: Ryzen 9 9800X3D
- GPU: RX 9070 XT (OC)
- Recent updates have made things progressively worse, not better
Issues experienced:
- CPU voltage spikes to dangerous levels. After a recent AMD/game update, my CPU core voltage was reading as high as 2.2V (normal is ~1.2V), which caused multiple full system shutdowns. This is not a minor bug — sustained overvolting at that level can degrade or damage a CPU.
- System freezes during gameplay, requiring hard reboots.
- Severe conflicts with common third-party software that millions of PC gamers run daily — Hyte RGB software, Govee, Razer Synapse, and Wallpaper Engine all cause instability or crashes when running alongside BF6/Frostbite. These are mainstream applications, not obscure tools.
- Visual glitches throughout gameplay — texture issues, rendering artifacts, general instability.
- Each update seems to introduce new problems rather than resolving existing ones. Optimization has trended downward, not upward, since launch.
The core issue:
Frostbite's interaction with modern AMD hardware and standard background software appears fundamentally unstable right now. A game causing CPU overvoltage events severe enough to trigger shutdowns is a serious problem that goes beyond typical "needs optimization" feedback — this is hardware-safety territory.
I want to keep playing this game, but right now it feels like every patch is rolling the dice on whether my system survives the session. Please prioritize stability and hardware-safety fixes alongside the conflict issues with common RGB/utility software, as these affect a huge portion of the PC gaming community.
