Battlefield 6 Steam Suddenly Won’t Get Past Splash Screen

I have been playing for a couple months no problem, having fun, but suddenly, this Monday the 5th I noticed that it no longer was able to launch the game.  I would see the splash screen, text at the bottom changes, says game will launch, and then nothing.

I then went on to try every solution I could find online.  It seems like a lot of people had my problem when it came out, but none of the things that worked for them worked for me.  And I didn't notice any comments by anyone to whom this happened suddenly, as was my case, so I thought it was worth posting.

I've spent hours trying the following solutions :

  • launched in admin mode
  • reverted to past nvidia driver : 591:59
  • exploit protection : added bf6 and anticheat launcher  .exe files with all options checked off.
  • disabled my bitdefender as far as I could
  • deleted and reinstalled (now going to try reinstalling in different location)
  • tried reinstalling windows even
  • I've reinstalled the EA App
  • verified game files
  • ensured smooting is off on nvidia
  • deleted and reinstalled DirectX and Windows 2015-2022 x64 and x86
  • tried creating a new local windows user account, to try the game out there.  still no

I've tried other stuff too.. went pretty deep with chatgpt.  but this is driving me nuts.

My modest specs :

ryzen 7 5700X

RTX3060

B450 Gaming Plus max

32gb ddr4

  • I believe the problem is that the game is not appearing in the EA APP.  When I launch the game through steam, the splash window appears, but EA APP is never solicited.  If EA APP is off when I launch the game, the EA app never launches.  I'm not sure how to rectify this.

  • nicorette12345 look in Windows Event Viewer for EA anticheat or BF6 error messages. Look under 'Windows Logs / Applications'.

Also check for crash dump files in Documents\Battlefield 6\Crash Dumps

The same here since early december! Have tried everything, but nothing workes!

    My specs:

    Ryzen 7 7800 x3d

    MSI B650 plus wifi

    32 gb ddr5

  • I can confirm that is is an issue with Intel procs too

I removed the report id for privacy concerns.

I do have BF6 installed in a non standard directory so its probable that someone hard coded a reg directory instead of a pointer value or something. This used to work when the game first released

  • Same issue, had this since the beta as well as since full release. I see you've already tried the local user workaround (it's how I've been playing), beyond that I have no suggestions and I too would really like to find a fix for this.

One question; What happens if you ask Steam to verify the files? I myself constantly get 1 broken/missing file everytime I launch the verification tool.

  • update, I also noticed my documents were autosaved to cloud.  I saw some post indicating that it could be problematic.  I reverted the settings, so that my documents files for battlefield are saved locally to my hard drive rather than in the cloud.  still no.

also fully uninstalled bitdefender, and dissabled windows defender.  still no.

also saw some early posts from when the game launched.  the steam version does not require the ea app at all to launch the game.  so it seems like a steam launcher problem. guess I'll post there now.
