BF6 suddenly crashing after about 2 minutes

This game has been working really well for me on PC (5080, 13700, 32GB), 210+ hours of play with a handful of crashes... Until today. Now, the game crashes systematically after about 2 minutes, with no error message. It does not matter if I'm in the menus, or starting a game, just a couple of minutes and bam, back to desktop.

I already checked the main culprits, but then I had already configured everything (stuff like BIOS, security, etc) properly when the game came out. I was playing yesterday December 7th in the evening (ME region), so I believe 1.1.3.0 was already out, and I have no idea what has changed since then.

First I'd want to know if any one else has had this issue in the same timeframe? I don't even know where to start trouble shooting at this point, so any pointers to recent issues would help.

Thanks!

  • yes just looking at some load outs and blip, right to the desktop. upgraded drivers and a restart. like you said 2-3 minutes and right to the desktop

  • Did upgrading the drivers change anything? (I was already on the latest but tried reinstalling, also verified files, but no dice)

I am having this exact problem as well. I can load up the game, but after I get into a match, I get... maybe around 2 to 3 mins in, then boom... Crash to desktop, no errors or anything. I tried several "Fixes" that people have said to have worked but its the same thing. Lowered graphics quality, updated drivers, re-installed the game, changed nvidia settings... I literally have no other solutions. I was hoping this latest patch would clear it up, but I am still having the same problem. I have around 70 hours on steam and was having no problems the last month or so. Also, if I have any other application open while it's booting up, and I then try to go to the game window, crash. If I boot up and only have the game window up, no problems, even if I do have another application running. It makes the game completely unplayable.

  • So in my case, somehow switching from full screen to borderless solved the issue. It's been very difficult to test different options, what with the strict time limit before the game crashes even when just fiddling with the menus, and I was already running the game at very low options on purpose (I currently get 160+ fps which is overkill, but I put the onus on smoothness rather than quality in multiplayer games). I'm not even sure that's what did it, it's just the last option I changed, it may have been a combination of other things.

But then the new patch came in today, and once again, I'm back on a two minutes timer before the game crashes. The two recent updates, 1.1.3.0 and 1.1.3.1 have been an utter catastrophe, with little way forward to help resolve the issues and seemingly very little interest from DICE for those catastrophic edge cases.

Same issue - have been playing since release, no issues, then all of sudden today, 2 minutes into game, crash to desktop. No error message, nothing. Went through driver updates etc, no solution yet.

    EA help please!
