Black Screen + Full System Freeze Only in BF6 (RTX 5070)

Hey everyone, I could really use some help because I’ve tried literally everything and nothing has fixed the issue.

Here’s the situation: only Battlefield 6 is giving me a really strange problem. During a match, my screen goes completely black, the monitor loses signal, the keyboard lights turn off, the sound stops, and everything freezes. The PC itself stays powered on, the fans keep spinning normally, but the whole system becomes unresponsive. I have to turn it off directly from the power supply because nothing else works.

The weird part is that this only happens in BF6. I play several other heavy games and none of them have this issue.

My setup:

Ryzen 9 5900X
MSI GeForce RTX 5070 12GB
32GB RAM
Cooler Master 850W 80 Plus Gold PSU
Gigabyte B550M Aorus Elite motherboard
Windows 11

What I’ve already tried:

Updated BIOS
Reinstalled NVIDIA drivers (Studio and Game Ready) using DDU
Reinstalled BF6
Verified game files on Steam
Tested DX11 and DX12
Disabled all overlays (Steam, Discord, GeForce)
Deleted NVIDIA shader caches
Updated AMD chipset drivers
Tested with only one monitor
Switched PCIe settings between Gen3/Gen4
Stress tested with FurMark (everything stable)
Formatted Windows

So basically, no other game causes black screen or freezes my PC like this — only BF6.

Is anyone with an RTX 50xx dealing with something similar? Could this be a bug specific to this GPU generation? Is there any other setting or fix I might have missed?

Thanks a lot to anyone who can help.

  • Hello,

I’m writing to update that the issue has been resolved.

I was experiencing random black screen freezes during Battlefield 6 and, occasionally, in older versions of Cinema 4D using Redshift. The system did not shut down or display a BSOD; only the video signal was lost.

After extensive testing, the issue was resolved by adjusting CPU power behavior in the BIOS:

    Disabling Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO)

Disabling Precision Boost / XFR enhancements

Limiting CPU boost behavior to reduce sustained power peaks

With these changes applied, the system became fully stable, and I was able to play for extended sessions without any black screen occurrences.

The GPU works normally in other systems, and drivers/BIOS were up to date during all tests.

  • Same issue. I am guessing that the 5000 series ryzen CPU might be the conflict point.

I am using 5800x + RTX3080ti and cannot solve the black screen and then crash into desktop issue

  • Also same issue.

    Ryzen 5 3600 + RTX 4060ti

Tried really erverything to solve the problem. All without success.

Last try today: downgrade the gpu drivers. Issue is still there. The only result is that now neither BF 2042 nor BF V runs too.

All games crashes. Black screen with a Double beep from the mainboard and System runs but is unresponsive.
    Has anybody a good advice?

I was getting this, I believe what fixes it was my secure keys weren’t saving or was a power issue.  I have a Aorus z490 Ultra, 10700k and 3080ti Xtreme. Go into bios and restore factory keys, save then restart. Try the game. Make sure the setting to revert to startup after boot is disabled.

if this fixes it you know it’s got to do with the secure boot keys not saving properly.
I got the error again the next day and re did it and I was able to play again.  I ended up doing a BIOS flash but first reset to default and make sure you disable secure boot then flash bios to latest.

Also check your GPU power connections are all plugged in properly and didn’t become loose. I did notice one of my 2 Pin on my 3 8 pin connectors was loose as it doesn’t lock in and my cables are stiff and bent in a way not to block the LCD display. .

it’s been crash free for a month now ad won’t crash no matter what settings in game I use and I am even running full OC to the max.  My CPU is running in advanced and I forced XMP but reduced clocks.  If I try and enable XMP it will boot loop with SC error but if I hold down the power button and force a proper power reset it post, like the power reset when you clear cmos. It would post but eventually blue screen but then I just kept lowering the XMP till it could boot.

For me I no longer have to use 2100mhz, before the BIOS security updates I could run 3200 XMP with no issues. Now I can run XMP of 2700mhz with xMP and memory integrity on. 2800Mhz blue screen almost instantly after it starts to boot into windows but fortunately for me 2700mhz  never crashes the game or PC even with my CPU running at 5 GHz in advanced CPU upgrade mode and with my older PC specs memory was my bottleneck holding back my CPU a bit.

  •  My game is also crashing and I cannot open a ticket or ask for support. This is not the way you should treat customers who paid a lot of money to use a product and cannot. Absurd situation going on here. So many people having problems with a such expensive product.

After a month of no crashing I thought i fixed it but last night the issue came back, I think it might have been caused by a windows security update, yesterday I had two updates I think one of the options below caused this. perhaps it thought something in the anticheat was a backdoor or trojan. I have earlier KB2267602 version updates that didn't effect this but either a coincidence or it's the culprit, since it started the same time and I put it together after this poster on reddit,

    KB2267602 (Version 1.441.408.0)

    KB2267602 (Version 1.441.396.0)

    here is the reddit post:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/1mlsqk3/windows_11_update_kb2267602_screwed_up_my_pc_need/

    EDIT:

I thought I'd first test resetting my BIOS, I think something might have got corrupted, First turned off secure boot then reset it which re enabled it. I also have a gigabyte Motherboard, I have the AORUS Z490 Ultra.  I have been using it for weeks withno issue even running everything maxed, my 10700K was running in advanced 5Ghz and I even forced XMP. I was getting the issue before using XMP even after a fresh install of windows with default bios. On these security patched BIOS's if you enable XMP it boot loops SC code or something, but if you hold down the power button it will post, it needs to full reset like when resetting your bios then it will blue screen, then I just keep lowering the memory OC till it posts, so I can run 2700Mhz instead of 2100Hmz. Before the BIOS security updates I could run XMP at 3200Mhz no issues. the thing i did before the issue came back was on my Keyboard force my PC to sleep after a gaming session so maybe the Anticheat was still running and that corrupted the BIOS and secure boot.

If this doesn't fix it I'll do a system restore to remove the windows security updates that happened yesterday but I just tested it and it didn't crash what would have normally crashed by now when affected by the issue so perhaps the reset bios fingers crossed fixed it,

I think  this is a corrupted BIOS and affects the secure boot keys not saving, flashing the bios hopefully will fix it and it will save the secure keys, looks like I have to give up on XMP, it was working fine for a few weeks but maybe when I put my PC to sleep then woke it up messed up my bios somehow or just blocked the memory from implementing the XMP clocks as it would at boot due to the secured memory in secure boot.

I just tried to play and my windows hello pin wasn't working, my game couldn't even finish a round. The windows pin is connected to secure boot. What eventually fixed my BIOS saving the my keys must have been the BIOS flash, I used to have to reset my keys every day for the issue to go away but then it started working. The flash must have fixed the corruption so if you haven't tried yet flash your BIOS and specially if your on older Intel and gigabyte MP don't use XMP, I got it to work but I think sleep and waking broke my BIOS because of XMP,
