Incendiary Airburst SICH G1 WP

Challenges, great. Challenges when you don't get credit for your achievements, not great. 

I've been trying to achieve 2000 damage with the Incendiary Airburst SICH G1 WP for a day now and have been getting hits, direct and indirect but not one point of damage, nothing. I am aware that there are many issues with the various challenges but wondered if a: the developers are aware of this issue b: is there a workaround? 

Also, although I don't disagree with moving the spawn beacon from recon to assault, why? Hardly ever see anyone using it. Nearly as bad a decision as making smoke grenades exclusive to support and moving C4 to recon.
