Javelin false Secure Boot error — 0xFFFF404B — ASUS Z170 / Intel PTT

Battlefield 6 will not launch because EA Javelin Anticheat reports "SecureBoot is not enabled."

 

Secure Boot is definitely enabled and functioning correctly.

 

System:

ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING

Intel Core i7-6700K

Windows 11 Pro build 26200.9168

Battlefield 6 through Steam

Intel PTT / TPM 2.0

 

Verified:

BIOS mode is UEFI.

CSM is disabled.

Secure Boot is enabled.

Platform Key is loaded.

msinfo32 reports Secure Boot State: On.

Confirm-SecureBootUEFI returns True.

Windows Security states: "Secure Boot is on and all required certificate updates have been applied."

TPM 2.0 is initialized and ready for storage and attestation.

Intel TPM endorsement certificate is present.

Intel virtualization is enabled.

Windows boots through the Microsoft UEFI boot manager.

 

I also updated the Intel ME/PTT firmware using the latest official ASUS package for the Z170 PRO GAMING.

 

Before the firmware update, Windows reported:

TPM Has Vulnerable Firmware: True

 

After the firmware update, Windows reports:

TPM Has Vulnerable Firmware: False

 

Javelin creates EAAntiCheatService using:

C:\Program Files\EA\AC\eaanticheat.gameservice.exe

 

Every Battlefield 6 launch generates Service Control Manager Event ID 7023 with:

 

The EAAntiCheatService service terminated with the following error:

4294918219

 

This corresponds to:

0xFFFF404B

 

The EA Javelin Application log has also reported:

Failed retrieving service path.

 

I have already repaired/reinstalled Javelin, verified Steam/EA account linking, confirmed Defender is not quarantining anything, confirmed there is no third-party antivirus interference, and verified TPM, UEFI, Secure Boot, certificates, and Windows bootloader configuration.

 

The Secure Boot error appears to be misleading.

 

Please clarify what Javelin error 0xFFFF404B represents and whether there is a known compatibility issue with Intel PTT on ASUS Z170 / Skylake systems.

    I'm getting the exact same issues and tried all of the above troubleshooting steps with the same results. Same motherboard and CPU setup although I'm still on Windows 10. Game worked fine up until the update last week. I hope we get an answer soon from EA.

    Yo,

    I have the same issue with the same hardware's:

    ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING

    Intel Core i7-6700K

    Checks: 

    Secure Boot = True

    UEFI/GPT = OK

    TPM 2.0 = Ready

    TPM Attestation = True

    VT-x/VT-d = On

    VBS/HVCI capable = Yes

    Windows UEFI CA 2023 = True

    UEFICA2023Status = Updated and OK

    And still not launching since the last patch, its just annoying and feels like just wasted money and time spent on the game...

    Try the following steps:

    Uninstall the game.

    Close the EA App and/or Steam completely.

    Go to Documents and delete the entire Battlefield 6 folder, or rename it instead.

    Launch the EA App.

    Clear the EA App cache.

    Reinstall the game.

    For everyone using the ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING motherboard with an Intel Core i7-6700K processor:

    If you need TPM 2.0, this motherboard has a dedicated 14-1 pin TPM header. The TPM module is not built into the motherboard and must be purchased separately.

    The recommended module is:

    ASUS TPM-M R2.0 — 14-1 pin, LPC, TPM 2.0

    Important: Make sure you purchase the TPM-M / LPC version, not TPM-SPI, as they have different pinouts and are not interchangeable.

    You can find the module on eBay or other online stores by searching for:

    ASUS TPM-M R2.0 14-1 Pin LPC TPM 2.0

    I have attached two pictures so you can clearly see what the module looks like and where it is installed on the motherboard.

    The module is installed directly into the TPM connector on the motherboard.
