The fact that the game looks perfectly smooth with a controller leads me to believe it's not gsync that's broken but that vsync is just doing a better job hiding the choppiness. It looks much worse with neither enabled.
I've tried so many combinations of options and there's a tradeoff no matter what. Vsync looks fairly smooth but has a massive latency penalty.
I'll probably go back to what I've been using, which is 2x framegen with a 200 fps cap, gsync enabled. Capping it any higher feels worse for some reason. Game still looks like it's dropping to 70 fps sometimes even though it stays locked at 200 the entire time, but it's the best solutions I've found.
