REDSEC won't even load menus

So after downloading REDSEC on my PC the game launches but crashes my PC before we even get to the menus.

My CPU light comes on on my motherboard and reverts me to a black screen. I need to reboot the whole PC to get a picture again.

Msi B450 Gaming pro carbon ac

AMD Ryzen 9 5900x

Msi 2080Ti Trio GPU

Windows 10 with Secure boot Tpm 2.0 enabled and uefi.

Suggestions welcome.

  • Hi all, so I had this issue and have now managed to fix it. I'll share the long story. I run a B450 motherboard and AMD 5900X. The B450 board wasn't designed to run a 5000 CPU. To do that you have to update the BIOS.

    Because of this my Windows was on Legacy / CSM mode. To run BF6 I had to convert to UEFI and turn on TPM2.0 and secure boot. UEFI draws power differently to Legacy mode and causes a number of power spikes on the CPU, hence the black screen. The fix:

    Enter BIOS > Advanced > AMD Overclocking > Precision Boost Overdrive.

    Set PBO to Advanced, then set the PBO limits to Manual. You will now see options for PPT (Package Power Tracking), TDC (Thermal Design Current) and EDC (Electrical Design Current). Change these settings to read:

    PPT = 120

    TDC= 75

    EDC= 110

    This will smooth out the power spikes, you'll sacrifice 2-3% of performance but stability has been perfect since.

    Hope this helps. Depending on your set up, you can adjust these figures by 5 each time until you have a stable system.
