Am I supposed to have a PROFSAVE_profile file there too?
As the op wrote you must have these files in order for the game to create save/settings. If this folder is missing, you can try to disable steam cloud save under manage. Then create a folder in documents C:\Users\[YourUsername]\Documents\Battlefield 6\settings ... save. PROFSAVE_profile and Steam_autocloud.vdf. have to exist in order for settings and saves, verify and check for these before creating a new folder.
1. Right-click the Battlefield 6 folder you created → Properties → Security tab
2. Select your Windows user → make sure Full control is checked
3. Click Apply → OK
This ensures BF6 can create and write config files inside the folder.
Make sure it’s not Read-only
1. Right-click settings folder → Properties
2. Make sure the Read-only box is unchecked
3. Apply changes to all subfolders if it asks
Read-only folders will prevent the game from saving anything. Hope this helps because I know for sure how annoying it was, took me 7 hours to get it resolved!
