So I have no idea if any of this helps but I believe it to be an EA account issue. I was getting this error a few weeks ago on Steam, read about people saying it was an account issue so I made my EA name match my steam name and it worked for a few weeks, all of a sudden it stopped working again. Yesterday when redsec came out I was able to play again, played for an hour with no issues, logged back in that night and was now getting the same error again. Being that you can now download the game for free on the EA app I figured I'd see what happened if I launched it through the EA app, if I used the EA app it was telling my something about my account being restricted from accessing online features and no, I haven't been banned. For the hell of it I have the Nvidia Geforce Now service that I use on my laptop from time to time so I tried to launch BF from my laptop through that and got the same 'unknown' error through a cloud gaming service running my steam account. I really don't think that it's anything GPU related I only believe it's something to do with EA account issues.
One odd thing I also noticed is that according to steam I still have an active EA Play subscription (didn't even know it was active) but my EA account says my subscription expired. Not sure if it means anything but I'm trying to find anything I can to help fix this
Agreed, this has nothing to do with graphics so I’m not sure why that solution was mentioned but according to AI like bro below said -
- It’s credible that this error often is a kind of account/entitlement/authentication issue that ends up looking like a ban (or anti-cheat flag) to the player.
- It may be a “shadow ban” (i.e., you’re prevented from matchmaking or launching but you aren’t shown a visible ban status) — this is strongly supported by user reports but not officially confirmed.
- Because it’s clouded by multiple potential causes (authentication fail, account mismatch, anti-cheat flag, hardware/software interference), the error isn’t clearly labeled by EA, making user-diagnosis harder.
