TimeNudge Spikes
Hi everyone,
I’ve been noticing intermittent TimeNudge (TN) spikes in Battlefield and wanted to share my observations along with some screenshots and video clips in case it’s useful for troubleshooting.
System and setup
CPU: Ryzen 1800X
GPU: AMD RX 7800 XT
RAM: 32 GB
Storage: NVMe drive
Windows 10, fully updated
No overlays running except for the built-in performance overlay (PerfOverlay.DrawFps 1)
Graphics settings all low
Network: 1Gbps fibre, wired CAT6e to router, internal LAN also CAT6e at 1 Gbps
Ping to 8.8.8.8: stable at 20–22 ms, 0% packet loss
TN spike behaviour
Spikes are intermittent and hard to reproduce consistently
Most noticeable during heavy action in Conquest with lots of players or vehicles
Gameplay briefly feels “syrupy” or slowed, even though FPS remains stable
TN spikes are visible in the overlay
Other players’ ping values do not correlate with spikes
Overlay observations
Normally, GPU shows yellow, sim load ~50–60, MP/s ~150
During TN spikes, GPU sometimes turns red, sim load drops to low 40s, MP/s drops to ~90
FPS remains pretty stable
Spikes are worse when looking toward groups of players and less noticeable when looking toward empty areas or map edges
Standard Conquest with real players shows spikes often, Conquest with bots runs much more stable even with similar player counts
Things I believe I have ruled out
Hardware performance (CPU, GPU, RAM)
FPS stability or graphics load
Network packet loss or latency
DNS or routing issues
Overlays or background software
Recording gameplay affecting performance

Notes
Spikes are usually brief and do not always affect gunfights
Issue seems related to simulation timing or synchronization rather than hardware or raw network performance
Happy to provide additional recordings or logs if needed
Thanks for taking a look any insights or confirmation from others would be appreciated.
