Unable to invite or join Steam friends

I'm unable to invite or join any of my friends games on Steam. I see them online, clicking their name just shows a blank screen. If I go to invite, I only see one friend and none of the others. I can't unlink and relink my Steam account with EA as it will block me from relinking for like a year. Anyone else? Any solutions?
