i had a similar problem, it took some figuring out but i think i fixed it by making sure the voice chat "on/off" switch was "on" in both the party menu and the audio options menu; sometimes when you switch one of them the other one switches off.
there's a lot of that kind of issue in the UI, but i suspect EA will figure that out sans suggestion given time.
what iii'd like to see is volume control / gain compensation for individual party members. mic's aren't uniform, and a general volume control or gain compensation doesn't accommodate for each player's specific setup. also, the audio clip distorts (not in a designed way) and is pretty harsh on the ears if cranked loud.
my friends and i default to discord for its sound quality and ability to lower/increase people's individual volumes, but it would be ****in' DOPE if EA improved the voice-chat a little; the 'in-world' voice chat option that allows for directional and distance measuring is next-level sick, and adds an entirely new layer to the immersion.
