Battlefield 3 crash cause of DirectX Error

Hi!

I've bough myself a new PC:

Procesor: Inter(R) Core(TM) i5-3570 CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.40GHz

RAM: 8,00GB

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2GB

OS: Windows 8 pro

So when i play bf3 after a 10 minutes, 1 minute or even an hour of play (completely random) it crashes and this error comes up:

DirectX function "Get deviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG: Device hung due to badly formed commands.. GPU: "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660", Driver 32049

(last number is the number of curent driver that is installed...)

- I've tryed to instal 5 different drivers

- Change the video resolution in game

- Updated directX (i have directx 11 installed)

- Reinstall bf3 several times with repair install

- Formated windows 8

- Runned in administrator mode and in different compatibility modes

I played bf3 on my old pc with windows 7 and it worked.

On this new PC with windows 8 only bf3 is crashing, F1 2012 is working fine, Bioshock games are working fine, strategy games are working fine...

Please help me or at least tell me that the bf3 isn't compatible with windows 8?

  • Windows 8 isn't officially supported by BF3 since BF3 was released in 2011 long before Win8, however many people run BF3 in Win 8 very successfully.  It looks like there is a conflict with your GPU drivers, have you updated the GPU drivers to the latest release version or are you running the new beta driver?

You can also try to manually update your direct X to the latest version as well.

  • Thx for your reply, i have updated both automaticly and manually drivers of GPU and directX but still get the same result.

Drivers for my GPU are not beta they are official...

And i don't use overclock and i haven't messed with my GPU settings, it is all stock.
