Battlefield 3 only in Russian langauge

Hello all,

so after years i wanted to download and play again this goergous game. But there is only Russian language pack to install in this "beautiful" EAapp.

Years ago when i pre-ordered the BF3 there were options to choose the language. The copy i ordered was physical disc from local store, not from cheap websites/russian version.

My region is post-soviet country - Slovakia but they are not ruling our region anymore.

So my question is, how can i change the language? There are some 10 years old videos but they seem out-dated a bit.

Thank you

Same issue wit me. Built a new PC and tried to install BF3 and am not able to download it because the only choice is the russian version. I've owned BF3 Premium and DLC since launch in 2011.

The language will depend a lot from where you got the purchase initially, if you have already followed this and the only available language for the game installation is still Russian, it's because that's the regional origin of your game key

If you got the game from EA directly (no other places), then the reason could be you were visiting one of the related countries when getting that key (it was not just Russia, other nearby countries got affected too, but the list escapes my mind right now), or you were using something like a VPN for security reasons, but the country of the node at the time of purchase affected the outcome

Originally, those keys included the English language (that's why everyone recalls playing in English), but it got removed at some point (I don't recall the exact year, just the news) due to abuse of "region jumpers" (to get lower prices), leaving the keys with only the Russian language, this also affected people from surrounding countries (Ukraine for example) living inside the region that wanted the English option, BTW

also, if I recall correctly, there's no fix for this (as in, a change for your account), at least not all this years after development stopped, you need to get the game again (I would recommend Steam) for your region, the problem is more than likely on the vendor side (like someone selling those cheap keys that worked fine at the time due to having English as an option), or on whoever bought it for you and gifted you the key

Sorry, but this does not apply here. I bought BF3 directly thru Origin (pre-ordered), not a game key reseller.

I live in the continental US, and my pc has never left the country, ad my work laptop that I use when I travel does not have Origin or the EA App on it, and I don't use a VPN for anything.

My EA App's language settings are on English and always have.

Back in the day I put in about 300 hrs. I know this is not a lot, but it is substantial enough to show that the game was playing properly and loading.

I probably should have been clearer, but its not a new purchase of BF3. Its the username and purchase that I have had from launch that will now not even start a download, and I think its because it is showing "Russian" as the language.

  • The only option I see is the part I mentioned about the purchase, something like a VPN that maybe you didn't noticed was on at the time messed with your region while purchasing, because there's no other way to get that version (and there was no way to notice it once purchased, since it had EN language at the start), and unfortunately, there's no fix for that other than going to Customer Support, IF they can do something about it

Nah, no VPN, I purchased it in on October 24th 2011 thru the Origin store. I still have the email confirmation.

Never had a VPN, didn't need one. I didn't buy it thru one of those discount key resellers and I live in the US. I will bring it up with customer support again, but they weren't much help initially when first posted about this.
