BF3 crashes

I recently updated Windows from 10 22H2 to 11 24H2 and now all of a sudden I'm not able to start it without it either crashes during startup or crashes while selecting "video" in settings. A couple of days ago while still using Windows 10 it worked flawlessly but ever since the update I'm not able to get it to work properly. 

Things I have tried so far but to no avail: 

  • Reinstalled it
  • Up to date with both Windows updates and Nvidia drivers
  • Reinstalled Punkbuster, C++ and DirectX
  • Deleted the config files 

It feels like something has become corrupt during the update and now it doesn't work anymore even though I have done a fresh install of it. 

Is someone else having problems with BF3 while using Windows 11 24H2 or one of the latest Nvidia drivers?

    If you create a desktop shortcut for BF3 then right click on the shortcut and select properties. Is there a Windows 10 compatibly mode or disable full screen optimization option?

    Try them one at a time. If that doesn't work then try them both at the same time.

    Another thing you can try is making a backup of the Documents\Battlefield 3 folder.

    Then delete the Documents\Battlefield 3 folder to reset the game to default settings .

    If it doesn't fix the crashing then copy the backup Documents\Battlefield 3 folder back to Documents to restore your backed up game settings.

    Hello DevilDogTwo-Five​,

    You can work around the video settings issue by adjusting your graphics settings through the Nvidia app.

    For the crash on startup, I recommend reinstalling the game and making sure your CPU and GPU drivers are fully updated.

    I have already tried to completely delete the BF3 document folder and even though all the settings has been reset to default it will still crash, I will try the first suggestion later today and see if that mange to fix it.

    Thank you for your suggestions. 

    I haven't done much in the Nvidia App, so that could definitely be worth a try. 

    Like I said in my post, I have already reinstalled the game and also make sure that my Windows updates are up to date as well as Nvidia drivers but to no avail unfortunately.

    And btw, everytime it crashes during start up I get a error message at the bottom on battlelog saying something like "can't connect to servers" or something like that in a red banner, which is very weird since I have fast and stable internet.

    It doesn't seem to crash during start up anymore, which is weird but good in a way, but I still getting crashes while trying to change the video settings in game. I made a short clip for you to look at to see if this is to any help.
