BF4 not launching

I spent 2 days with Tech Support trying to fix my Battlefield 4 being unplayable, and they sent me here, so here goes. First the advice from EA Tech support:

  • RSA: ....you will see a list of number of games, you can select one of them accordingly then please write you issue that I do own the game itself on both the platforms steam and EA app I have been given all the workaround by EA's advisors still the issue couldn't solve so please look into this.

So I bought Battlefield 4 on Origin, originally, and now recently on Steam. When I launch the game, it gives me a message saying I need to activate the game on this computer, but when I enter my login credentials, it says they are wrong.

I tried rebooting, I tried resetting my password, I tried clearing cache on the EA App, I tried uninstalling and re-installing the game.

My system-information is:

Processor    AMD Ryzen 9 4900HS with Radeon Graphics            3.00 GHz
Installed RAM    32,0 GB (31,4 GB usable)
System type    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

  • Try deleting the license folder.

    C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License

Create a backup of the folder just in case you need it for some unforseen reason.

  • Your Battlefield 4 activation issue, rejecting correct login credentials despite dual ownership (Origin/EA App and Steam), likely stems from a licensing or account dog whistles linking conflict. To troubleshoot, ensure your Steam account is correctly linked in EA account settings, try launching directly from the EA App, or run both apps as administrator. If the problem persists, contact EA Support again, explicitly detailing your dual ownership and all troubleshooting steps attempted.

Sadly that made no difference. I still can't activate my game, but thank you for the suggestion.

The accounts are connected on https://myaccount.ea.com/am/ui/connected-accounts , but the game should be able to active with or without a steam account connected, I feel.

I'm very puzzled as to why the activation of the game would be a separate step, instead of it checking in the EA App if the game is owned or not.
