DON't Shut down BF3 for ps3

We want to continue rententing servers, we are a group from all around the world who have been playing together for 12 years, we have lost people along the way due to health issues but we are a very tight and close group, we made a petition that has almost 1 thousand signatures requesting EA not to close the servers of BF3 on the PS3 gaming console and allow us to continue renting them. Please don't shut down our Legacy, we are willing to pay for any maintenance cost. BF3 has been considered the best of the entire franchise.

  • Hello @jmvreaper,

Unfortunately nothing can be done, I will post a statement from EA below.

On Wednesday, July 31st the following titles will be removed from digital storefronts and you will no longer be able to purchase them and all extra related content such as DLC.

    • Battlefield 3 (Xbox 360 & PlayStation 3)

    • Battlefield 4 (Xbox 360 & PlayStation 3)

    • Battlefield: Hardline (Xbox 360 & PlayStation 3)

Online services for these titles on these platforms will end on November 7th, 2024. While the online components of these titles close for these platforms, if you own the game, you will still be able to play the single-player component.

Please note: Battlefield 3 will still be available for play on PC. Battlefield 4, and Battlefield: Hardline will still be available for play on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The announcement today does not affect these titles and platforms.

If you'd like to learn more about the sunsetting process you can refer to the FAQ here, or check out our delisting page here.

If you have any questions about these titles on older platforms head on over to EA Help.

    Thank you for your understanding!

    Best regards,

  • Dear EA and the Battlefield Development Team,

As a long-time player and part of a global community dedicated to Battlefield 3, I’m writing on behalf of many who share my concerns over the planned shutdown of Battlefield 3’s servers on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. While we understand that technology and priorities move forward, this decision feels like a blow to a passionate player base that still actively engages with this classic game.

What makes Battlefield 3 special isn’t just nostalgia; it’s the gameplay, the community, and the experience that no other game can fully replicate, not even newer Battlefield titles. Shutting down these servers would effectively erase years of friendships, dedication, and memories that we have built on this platform.

We, as the community, are not asking for a remastered version or for anything to be changed—we want the original Battlefield 3 experience preserved. Battlefield Portal could be a perfect platform for this. Adding Battlefield 3 to the Portal, with all its original content and gameplay intact, could allow us to continue enjoying what we love most about this game without altering the unique experience that makes it so dear to us.

This isn’t about money or new releases for us. It’s about preserving a beloved game that has impacted many of us profoundly. We are asking that you consider the voices of the players who have stuck with this game through thick and thin. We are willing to fight for the game we love, and we hope you’ll listen to a community that still deeply values what Battlefield 3 has to offer.

    Sincerely,
    Lewis,
On behalf of the Battlefield 3 community

Edit : I’ve attached a couple of screenshots that contain the thoughts of chatgpt in regards to battlefield 3

  •  @danisoff
Stop with the generic responses. Please.

instead of kicking the players while they are down why don’t you rally behind them and try taking this thing to the top!

@Scoobyslap I've merged your thread with this one.

Also, I'm sorry to say that I don't believe anything will stop the closure on PS3 or Xbox 360 at this point.
