EA took over Origin? I can't access game now.

I bought Battlefield 3 back in 2011 or 2012.

This is the only Origin account I have.

I was able to play BF3 through my Origin app.

Today, I tried to login to my Origin app and was informed (on screen) that EA app would uninstall my Origin app and I would play the game through the EA app.

automatic download and installation ensued - which uninstalled my Origin app.

I logged into the EA app.

It shows my installed games (BF3) and uninstalled games (my full library of available games).

I click the (BF3) play button.

BF3 Battlelog page appears in a browser.

Error message:  WRONG EMAIL OR PASSWORD

I go to the top right of the battlelog page, it shows :  LOGIN /SIGNUP

I click LOGIN

Takes me to EA login window and I use same email and password.

a new battlelog broswer opens and I am in my BF3 account which shows my in-game name (upper right corner).

I press PLAY CAMPAIGN button.

a small white "Activation" dialogue box appears and inside, it says:  We could not activate BF3 on this computer using the Origin account you provided.  Please locate your product key to activate the game using your Origin account.

But there is no where to enter my product key inside that dialogue box.

A long button says: ENTER PRODUCT KEY

When I click the ENTER PRODUCT KEY button, I get an ERROR message:

We've noticed your computer is currently offline, to activate your game on this computer using your Origin account, you'll need to connect to the internet.

I'm on the internet sending you this message!

I'm on the internet playing music!

I'm have a browser open with the BF3 Battlelog - through the internet!

I have tried uninstalling EA app and re-installing as administrator and that has not worked.  Same error messages.

What do I do to play my "paid for" and installed games

Thank you.

  • Thank you for the response.

    Much appreciated.

Apparently, it is a problem on EA's end and I can't (many others as well) access my entire library of games until it's fixed.

They have no estimate as to when this issue will be fixed.

    Way to go EA.  ☹️

@scottywilco Battlefield 3 via EA app and the License Key Error

If you're playing Battlefield 3 via the EA app and you're also running into the License Key Error, please follow these steps:

    Close/Exit the EA app.

Open Windows File Explorer and copy/paste* this 'url' into the address bar: C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License.

*If you can't copy/paste this 'url', you can enable the "View hidden files and folders in Windows" option via these steps and navigate to the folder manually.
In the "License" folder, where you should be if you've followed the above-shared steps, delete all files that you can see*.

*If you can't see any, please enable the "View hidden files and folders in Windows" option via these steps.
Open the EA app again and perform an App Recovery (clear cache).

Try to launch the game again, the game should now work.
