EDIT: For some reason google/searching " Battlefield 5.1 7.1 " or " Battlefield 5.1 7.1 surround sound " comes up with the old title of this thread/topic, as I had this titled as a question previously, but changed it to " TOPIC " .. I guess that's how google/searching works for the 1st name of the thread only shows.

Do not bring up / talk about headphones/headsets please. This is about surround sound / directional audio from speakers in 5.1 and or 7.1
Hello this thread is mainly just to ask about what format sound each battlefield uses.
If you want to reply with answers go ahead, I've done some searching around, and most of the results come up about virtual surround with headphones etc... frustrating.
I Can't find the specific info. Maybe I Can get a response from Dev 🙂
My current updated setup is 7.1 with speakers surrounding my setup.
I Use the HDMI from my GPU with the NVIDIA High Definition Audio (drivers) connected to an older but capable 7.1 Yamaha receiver(with pre-outs)
I've chosen to use the normal / regular settings and not change it to Atmos, and it's probably unnecessary(to use Atmos) and a lot of games don't have or support it.
I tested Battlefield 4 so far, and using my ears, it seems as if it has 5.1, but seeing I have mine set to 7.1, for some reason the surrounds come out the back, as surround back channels. I always thought if the game is 5.1 it would come out of the front L+C+R, and surround L+R, not Back L+R... not a huge deal, it still works, Just had me wondering, if it was a channel mix up.
Quick-Edit: I'm using NVidia GPU on PC - Windows 10 for surround sound wth speakers.

Speakers - Surround Sound: 5.1 / 7.1 ?
My experience, to be edited:
Battlefield 3 * (To be tested)
Battlefield 4 = 5.1 * But surrounds are put/placed into to back channels(in my exp)
Battlefield 1 = 5.1 * seems the 5.1 is working properly, surround channels and not back channels(As surrounds)
Battlefield V * (To be tested)
Battlefield 2042 = 5.1 * seems to be 5.1 working properly.
A call to all who have ever experienced battlefield in surround sound 5.1 / 7.1 - possibly at your desk or home theater.
