Progress transfer between Xbox and PC

I already know the answer to whether or not it's possible, which is no. I'm just wondering why this is not a thing these days? Especially with the release of Battlefield 2042 coming up and the previous Battlefields going on sale. I'm sure plenty of people started playing Battlefield on Xbox or Playstation and have since moved on to PC gaming. I personally played a boatload of Battlefield 4 in the past and it is a little depressing that I have to return to a game that I loved and play as a level 1 with none of my unlocks, stats, or level progression. Of course, I will still play, but I still see no reason as to why it would be bad to implement progress transfer between platforms, especially if you bought the game twice. Does anyone have an explanation for the reasoning behind this?

  • To give you some idea to why its not there.

There is a lot of work thats goes into moving stats from one platform to another and Battlefield 4 is an old game when it comes to tech years so its a big investment to build new tech with old systems, you also don't want to break those system let alone finding someone who knows those systems. @DecoherenceT

It sucks, I was on the grind for lvl 100 and at lvl 95 but one day at work, our house caught fire and destroyed pretty much everything. Instead of buying another xbox at the time, i ended up buying a PC and have been struggling without all the unlocks i had and what not. Still have fun but i guess its time to start a new grind before BF2042 releases

Come on guys, as a BF vet it will not take you much time to unlock your preferred weapons and accessories again.

With regards to your XP level, nobody really cares about that anyway.

It's all about having fun playing the game and that is still top notch in the BF4 game!

  • I don't understand how that's no possible considering we have Cloud gaming? You can play essentially any game with all your progress, on any platform no problem other than poor gameplay. What makes it so different from Battlefield 2042? If it was possible for that one, why wasn't it possible for the others? Why wasn't it a thought? People have spent money on games, and upgrade in platforms and want to play the same games with better experiences, just to find out they have no experience anymore, literally. That's counter-intuitive. I just can't seem to wrap around my head how it's so much work, when all the data is saved to an almost universal saving spot, that allows you to play the same game on different platforms. Was that not the whole point of it? I've played BFV on Xbox Series X, many hours. I no longer have access to that, I now have a PC. I see BFV is on Game Pass, I download it after many hours of that 90GB+ download, just to find out I have no progress. Not even the microtransactions stuff I bought. Wasted. Why? I've Cloud gamed BFV on PC and have had all my progress, it's just super laggy. Why are there 2 different versions of the same game? Why didn't they just allow the option to load your Cloud saved data? It sounds so simple to me?? I'm not trying to be a smartass on that, but I genuinely don't understand how it's really that complicated or whatever, when Cloud save was a thing before.

I'm going to lock this thread as it hasn't been active since March 2022. Anyone who wants to continue the discussion is welcome to start a new one, though.
