Battlefield 5 PS5 – Unable to Join Servers (Connection Timed Out)

Hello,

I’m experiencing an issue when trying to join servers on Battlefield 5 on my PS5. I haven’t played for a few months, but when I tried to join a server today, I kept getting disconnected with the following error message:

“Connection to EA Online timed out. Your bandwidth and/or network latency may not meet the requirements for this game.”

However, I have a very good internet connection, and I am able to join games through quick play, but I cannot manually select a game from the server browser.

I’ve tried multiple solutions, including:

  • Restarting my WiFi router
  • Connecting via both Ethernet and WiFi
  • Deleting and reinstalling the game
  • Confirming that my PlayStation account is correctly linked to my EA account

Additionally, after I receive the error message and press X to continue, the game gets stuck on a grayish background with the menu music playing, forcing me to restart the game entirely.

Despite these efforts, the issue persists, and I’m unsure what else to try. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your answer. However, I highly doubt this is a connection issue. I have a stable 345 Mbps connection, I’m using an Ethernet cable, and I can join regular games without any problems. The issue only occurs when I try to select a game manually from the server browser.

It may well turn out to not be that, but the message you're receiving implies that there is a connection issue. There also don't seem to be any mass reports at the moment either, so doesn't seem to be a global problem.

I'd suggest considering opening all necessary ports (this should change it to Nat 1 and be fully open) and seeing what happens.

You could also try contacting EA Help (help.ea.com) if you don't want to change the Nat type to open for security reasons or opening the ports doesn't bring any changes.

The only other thing I can think of right now is that you're trying to connect to servers which aren't in your region through the browser.

Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it. I’ll try switching to NAT Type 1 and see if that resolves the issue. I’ll let you know if I succeed or if I run into any difficulties.

It’s extremely tedious trying to contact them. First, when I tried calling the provided number, I was informed that it was no longer in service and that I had to submit my claim through EA’s website. When I accessed the site and finally found an issue that somewhat matched my situation, I filled in my information to be connected with an advisor via chat, only to be redirected to the homepage without any feedback on my request. I really don’t know what to do, and this situation is incredibly frustrating because I can’t even reach EA.

I've been having the same issue for a couple weeks on PS5. It's 100% on EA's end.
