Do Player Weights Matter?

I am in year 2 of a dynasty with some people and for a couple reasons, I am wondering if players' weights affect gameplay. For example, Notre Dame has a player named Loghan Thomas who is a DE. In real life he is over 220 now but in the game he's still listed as 205. In dynasty, players don't seem to gain weight like they did in the old NCAA games, and I'm trying to decide if I can play Thomas at DE since he'd even be small as an OLB. He's got a lot of ability on paper as a pash rusher, including quick jump, but I'm not sure how players at this size will hold up.

I've been recruiting for size on the defensive line and should have the flexibility to stay either 4-down or go 3-down in the future depending on what I want to do, but it would be helpful to know how weights either have an effect or don't.
