Most Offensive plays with pulling Linemen are broken.
Only the zone, read option(with no pulling linemen) and straight dive plays are viable in 2025. In decades past in the NCAA series, the power O and counter traps, both of which have pulling linemen, were among the best running plays in the franchise.
In 2025 something is catastrophically broken with how pulling linemen work.
Most of the time I find pulling linemen moving too slow and getting in the way of my halfback instead of moving up field to block linebackers or attacking defensive linemen with a trap block.
And yes, I’m laying off the sprint button with my ball carrier and trying to let the blocks develop. Laying off the sprint button on plays with pulling Linemen 99/100 times results in my back being tackled in the backfield. I’m also assigning the Mike LB and well as not assigning the Mike to see if anything makes counter traps and plays with pulling linemen viable.
The only time I see pulling linesmen really being viable and working effectively is on a sweep play from the I formation or single back. The inside traps and counter plays with pulling Linemen are just broken beyond belief compared to how great these plays worked from the late 1990’s up until 2014.
