Questions regarding remote play

I’m torn between buying ps5 and Xbox series x.. on the PlayStation site it says ea college is remote play capable.

meanwhile Xbox doesn’t mention anything on that matter.

Is it going to be remote play capable on Xbox series x?

or should I go with ps5?

I’ve only played the ps2 and had xboxes ever since, then switched to pc.

and really don’t want to go that route to going back to ps5 if I don’t have to.

    Hey @IRONMANBKILR

You will want to reach out to Sony or Microsoft for further assistance with their Remote Play features.

However, from my understanding, both require a local internet connection to stream your console to another device (like a PC or PS Portable)

The Remote Play features don't natively support Remote/Cloud streaming to a separate network.

    Cheers,

    Hey @IHazNoLimbs

To confirm are you trying to use the local remote feature, where are you using another device such as a tablet to stream the game while in another room?

Or do you want to use it over cloud technology?

  • I have an asus rog ally. So having ea college football installed on box series x and being able to play it on the rog ally in the other room would be amazing.

If I cannot do this , then I’ll have to buy a ps5 because remote play is shown for it,

nothing is shown for the Xbox version,

I asked in the Xbox forum and someone said yeah any game you have installed you can play remotely, but I’ve read it has to be on game pass.

     Idk.

    Hey @IHazNoLimbs

I can pass the feedback along to the team to see if we can get any confirmation, but the local Remote Play feature is something that works on all games as it's a console feature instead of a game one.

However, from my understanding. Any (maybe) game that you own on the Xbox can be locally streamed if you enable the console settings feature, using the Xbox PC client. This is mainly just streaming the display between the console and software but is a feature supported by Microsoft. I haven't run into any of my games on my Series X that can't use this feature.

How to set up remote play

One thing to note is you are technically playing the Console with a display stream so you won't have any progress saved to the ROG PC.

I'd guess that anyone mentioning Game Pass might be thinking of Xbox's Cloud Streaming beta, which you only get access to on Game Pass Ultimate and for certain games. However CF25 at this time is neither a supported game nor available on Gamepass.

    Hope this helps!

  • So if it only streams to my rog ally it will just save to the console correct?

I understand it won’t save to my rog ally.

obviously I’m going to play it on a tv as much as I can. But when I can’t I want to be able to play it on my handheld

Hi @IHazNoLimbs, Correct it just saves on the console with remote play, and perfect just wanted to make sure with new features like Remote Play, Game Pass, and Xbox Cloud some of the information around them can get cross.

Let us know how it plays on your ROG Ally! I think I'm waiting for a 2025 release to get one

  • Debating on buying a PS5 or Xbox Series since NCAA 25 is back, but I am finding conflicting information about remote play.

Will I be able to play NCCA 25 or Madden 25 on my IPad Pro, using Remote play, while my console is in Utah and I am in Alaska on a different Network?

Really confused but sounds like on a PS5 I can but with Xbox no.

  • Currently, I am not able to play cfb25 because I own an Xbox One S and it won't run on there. However, I was wondering if even though I won't be able top play it on my xbox, could I still download it on there and then remote play it onto my PC and then play from there?

    Hey @KyleJB465

To confirm are you trying to use Xbox's remote play feature via the Xbox app?

If so, that functions by streaming what your console is doing over your local internet to a PC (or device with the Xbox App), however, that still requires the console your playing on to be able to play the game.

College football is only launching on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so we would not be able to launch it on an Xbox one S to start the stream.

    Hope this Helps!
