Quick fix for scheme archetype changes (and a hotfix needed - please upvote)

I'm in an online dynasty and unfortunately changed my team's scheme the day that the recent patch came out. Unfortunately, that changed every archetype for every player on my team.

What I've found by tinkering around in some offline files is that during the position change phase, you can change a player's position (i.e. a WR -> Kicker) and then back again to their original position. This will, in most cases, change the player back to their best rated (and original) archetype.

The issue arises in some cases where the archetype assigned does not actually exist in the game. My guess is that EA borrowed archetypes from Madden, where there are IIRC four per position, rather than the three per positioned in EACFB.

An example of this would be at QB. When I changed my Scheme, Ohio State's Julian Sayin became an improviser. He should be a Field General. But if I change him from QB -> K -> QB he becomes a Strong Arm... an Archetype in Madden, but not in EACFB.

Similarly Brandon Inniss became a Deep Threat. He should be a Route Runner. But the game will make him a Slot... which does not exist in this game.

This is a glaring issue because when the Archetype doesn't exist, the player can't progress. You'll see on their player card when you go to ratings, no bars are available.

I imagine this is also a problem beyond just this edge case, and with Athletes or other players who might be switching positions, as well.

It should be an easy enough fix, so hopefully this can get some attention from the Devs.

  • @Bucks_312 Even after changing the positions to something else and back (I had tried this on my own). The next week when the preseason started they were all back to the default archetype. Which dramatically affects everyone’s overall not to mention abilities
  • @Bucks_312 Yup. My 98 overall QB had this happen. Now he's sitting on 50 exp with no mental or physical skills and nothing to spend his exp on.
