Server lag is terrible
@Easports
Online games are like swimming in sand while on ice. Is there a way you can fix this issue? It makes the games even more unpredictable and hampers in-game user skill. Dreadful.

Just for reference:
My current download peed is: 703.86 Mbps
Current upload speed: 37.06 Mbps
I don't think the game should be chopping and lag slop. Passing is a nightmare and running....you're basically playing Russian roulette with a blindfold on because the delay is so ridiculous.
Id rather have low rendering of the stadium or whatever else you guys can cut out of bandwidth to make the actual gameplay smooth. That's the most important thing to be able to play a game with skill.
Thank you, and are you able to give us some update on this or a comment? We appreciate all the efforts!! 🙂
Hi there, @VGorilla808
We should go through some connection troubleshooting. Your speed is fine, but it sounds like you're possibly having some packet loss. Are you on a wired or wireless connection?
Wired.
I have fiber that converts to coax. Coax to ethernet, hardline into xbox x.
How do i address packet loss?

Thanks for those details. Did this just start happening recently or has it been going on for awhile now? Also, what system are you playing on?
Xbox X is the gaming system i am using.
This has always been an issue with h2h p2p play.
I notice very big differences sometimes in the time I am playing and sometimes game to game.
Is this possibly due to the other player's connection speeds?
For example, i will be playing h2h games, maybe 8 in a row and everything is running relatively smooth...in-game response time is good, meaning that for example, I am running the ball and juke move or just make directional turns and the ingame outcome matches the controller input.
Then, when the east coast wakes up, games are now more laggy. Players aren't moving with response time to joystick input quickly. Even kicking, you basically have to adjust your button timing to adjust for the slight delay.
Players will start to "ice skate" in the game. For example, you pull an upper safety down to the line of scrimmage before the opponent snaps the ball and they will glide a few yards after you have stopped movement with the left stick on controller (this sometimes in the most extreme example would move the player 'offsides'...possibly getting a penalty.
This ice skating, also will be noticeable on defense when attempting to make tackles (they will glide or move past the player). When this happens, one thing I've found works is to not use 'turbo'. That helps a little bit.
It makes reading plays for passing much more difficult because what you see on screen isn't actually happening in the games codes. For example, you might make a read on a play and the receiver is open and I'm reading the defender's players action/animation and you throw the ball but then it jumps forward a fraction of a second and now when you actually threw the ball the receiver is not open and the cpu makes an interception.
So these little fractions of seconds make huge outcomes in this game.
Going from practice mode to in game demonstrates how much the lag is.
When the lag is heavy and affects game outcome, I usually stop playing or will switch to dynasty or something not p2p.
Also, we as gamers do play with lag issues on other p2p like call of duty for example and you adjust as best you can and it's like the kicking, you can press the button slightly sooner than you would to adjust for the lag. But this is def a major negative issue. It's not fun or helpful or something we should just not try to fix.
I'm not sure mechanically or otherwise how this gets improved but hopefully there is a way and this is helpful to the you and the EA team.
If there's also a way to report glitches or game bugs let me know, I don't mind sending a bug report if it's helpful when they occur.
Just played h2h game. Lag was pretty bad.
Attached my network stats post game.
I won the game and was able to adapt and adjust but this was a prime example.
In game....there would be a reaction delay. For example, the defender is on a tackle angle coming at your running back, perform a cut to inside then cut outside....would not happen in game would result in colliding with their defender. Adaptation to lag, just hit turbo and run in one direction.
It's adaptable, but it changes the game play.
This is why myself and I assume many others always loved college football and hated madden...
Madden was always clunky, laggy, horrible response. It was like playing rock em sock robots. Just absolute terrible response to sticks.
College football is so much better.
Having the most in game response to controller action is the biggest thing.
The only thing I would suggest to the ea team on gameplay is providing just a tiny amount of more time for player vs player interaction. That way skilled user makes the game not just about calling the perfect play and having the cpu do everything or for the glitch people, they just know how to glitch plays that work vs actually having user skill
So if for example someone doesn't user the catch but the opponent users the ball they can intercept etc.
I put a more detailed post on this. But that would be so amazing. I think that user should have just a little bit more than cpu.
Currently, If you user a player to make a catch, it actually slows down the receiver and you can't make a catch better than cpu. You have to wait until the very last second and then just spam a catch button or make a quick movement to position the player. Which is excellent. But if there was just a fraction of more time or if say a deep pass you could actually user the player sooner and run to the ball better than the cpu to make the catch, that would even the playing field between glitch players and the people that just relay on game mechanics and players that have hand eye coordination and actually stick skills. Would make the games more fun and competitive and continue to be way better than madden.
Attached internet speeds
Also uploaded a video to xbox network showing lag in practice mode.
Are those the same numbers you're seeing when the issue is occurring? We're not aware of anything that would cause this currently so the best we can do is connection troubleshooting. You can find those details here. Are you using an old ethernet cable by chance? Also, are you using a separate router or do you have a modem/router unit supplied by your ISP?

I don't know how to monitor during gameplay.
Is there something in the game options that displays this data?
The modem/router is supplied by the fiber company yes. The router is hard wired to coax.
The network test was done with the game still on in ultimate team at the main menu not in game otherwise it would probably disconnect me and drop the game.
