Switching Defensive Players

I'm having trouble switching players after a snap. I like to play with the D-Linemen to try to sack the QB. After the snap, if one of the CPU controlled players is closer to the QB, I try to switch to them to try to sack the QB. It worked plenty of times on madden, However now, when I try to switch, it switches to a defensive back way downfield (CB, SS, FS) and they are taken off their defensive assignment and it leaves the receiver wide open for a touchdown. It happens virtually every single time. Incredibly frustrating. Does anybody else have this issue?
