Amen! Former football coach here (never ran flexbone - we were a double tight shoe to shoe double wing team, but always admired the offense). I understand it and love the if/then scenarios. I like to run it but agree the QB/FB mesh phase under center is a hair too quick. Midline triple and Midline double - same. Timing was tough in NCAA 14 but I could run midline decent back then at least 75-80% of the time. Rocket toss - totally agree especially when run to the right its a total dud. Works ok to the left. Not being able to make load adjustments or switch calls on blocking the edges is tough too and limits you. And just the basic simple option pass or 3 step game protections suck so bad its almost always an insta sack. The option works pretty good from pistol and gun b/c the timing is just a little longer of a ride. For many of the reasons above I don't run any flexbone this year. I run I formation and try to run a Lou Holtz or Dan McCartney type offense based on threat of triple along with iso power counter toss. Midline is un-runable but I have gotten ok at the triple under center. But not nearly as good as I should be for the time ive put in. I also run some pistol two back b/c they didn't include a power or lead option in the I formation! And when im having trouble with the speed of the under center mesh phase being too quick I can run triple from pistol and even audible to it from I pro. But its just a big workaround. Oh - one more pet peeve w/ flex - they've never gotten counter option right in terms of the pulling guard attacking the outside shoulder of the 5 tech to attempt to log him. And the line lets a walked up linebacker just blow through on counter option rather than picking it up.
