Seconded.
I haven't played NCAA or Madden since about 2012, have no recollection of this feature at all, but even for me it feels much more intuitive to hold X to hand off the ball. I got a copy of NCAA 14 to play RTG while I wait for 25's to be patched, and it feels much more natural the older way.
