Providing Dynasty Feedback with a focus on details

This is by no means an exhaustative list..... IDK if making one of those would be possible. This dynasty mode has too many bugs and QOL menu issues to count.

How did the following slip through the QA testers?

  1. Stats/Menus
    1. The "my school" screen grade for conference prestige does not match the top conferences graphic on the right hand side of the screen. Which one is correct? No one knows.
    2. The training results menu literally does not tell you training results... it just tells you your current player's ratings.... not how much they have progressed or regressed.
    3. missing a school/coach info screen that shows you all your pipeline levels, my school ratings, rankings in various areas and most importantly all your school's rivals.
    4. No menu showing all teams in the NCAA in terms of prestige ranks, offensive and defensive and ST ratings ranks.... would be nice to sort this by conference as well
      1. This would especially be nice since teams can get DELETED fom the universe in custom conference phase.... being able to track total teams would be an easy indicator to see if this happened to you.
    5. You can't view season stat totals from awards screens
    6. no way to monitor wear and tear at the team level as the season progresses. You have to click in to each individual player.... no alerts for dangerous situations.
    7. practice doesn't always show up
    8. yards per completion" is brought out to SIX decimal places!
    9. downs played does not show up in box score
    10. pancakes do not show up in box score
    11. no alerts for player level ups
    12. no alerts for assistant coach level ups
    13. cannot attach a custom playbook to a coach.... can only use the pre made ones for simming. I know you can use a playbook when in team selection screen but what about when you sim and want to use your same playbook's logic?
    14. cannot view player cards in depth chart.... but you can in view roster.... why are these different?!
    15. cannot view development traits in depth chart because you cannot see player card.... these should be added to the main screen as they are essential to team building.
    16. When you are in position changes and you view a player card, it kicks you out of position changes and into a view roster screen when you return from viewing the player card. You then have to exit that view roster screen and go back to position changes
    17. You can not view player cards of incoming freshman during position change phase.... so you have to make those important decisions without knowing dev trait because the game does not show you dev trait in any other spot besides the player card.
    18. When you use the right stick to scroll through the "play game" stories, your last week's graphic will stay up while the right up at the bottom refers to your upcoming game.
  2. Custom Conferences and Schedules
    1. Teams can get lost forever in custom conference phase..... they disappear never to return again.... you can tell which ones because when you go to custom schedules they will show up with generic EA logos just like the FBS schools.
    2. conference rules allow you to play up to 12 conference games but when you get into custom schedules, the max you can play is 9.... this breaks cpu scheduling and many users are left unable to edit schedules
    3. when you create divisions among conferences, the games menus do not acknowledge them and instead only show you the initial division as representing the entire conference.... so if you care about a team on the other side of the conference you are out of luck as far as comparing amongst the conference.... no recruiting class ranks, no team stat ranks, no coach stat ranks... thank god the conference standings actually have both divisions.
    4. custom conference UI cannot handle it when you delete a conference.... the headers get all messed up and you lose the ability to edit the conference all the way to the right.... usually sunbelt.... so then they are forever un-editable
    5. Once you remove a conference by moving all of it's teams they are forever gone... you cannot add a conference back in. This is gamebreaking because once a conference is gone, there header position gets removed on the "lb/rb" conference swapping menu, but the game still treats it like they should be there.... essentially the conference to the right of whichever one you removed will take over that spot in that header section, which means the conference all the way to the right (sunbelt) gets perminantly removed from that header section, meaning you cannot edit them.
  3. Recruiting
    1. proximity to home does not accurately track. At UMass I am getting B+ grades for in state kids but A+ for New Jersey kids.
    2. AI recruiting dows not know how to evaluate players that are not being recruited and then target them.... this is why we see so many 3 and 4 star players untouched.... the AI will gladly take those 2 stars that show up in the recommended tab instead. As the user you never have to worry about ever needing to recruit a 2 star.... this feels real bad as a 1 star program. You told us you didn't want us to have to use house rules this time!
    3. When you are in the recruiting screens there are so many times where the text of the recruiting action wraps over other text..... it just looks like an unpolished mess.
    4. Playing style is not attached to positions, instead it is just your overall team stats..... so if you dont feature TE's at all, you can still have A+ play style for a TE.
  4. Missing/broken Features
    1. Ever wonder how the engine selects which moments you play? There are games out there that let you customize which types of moments you would like to jump into. This would be fantastic for keeping that game loop going while in long term dynasty.

    2. coach carousel with offers that logically make sense.... if i go 2-10 at 1 star NIU, I am not going to get a HC offer at 3 star Indiana as a level 4 coach over other level 25+ coaches who are also on the interest list.
    3. no auto mass subs
    4. no formation subs
    5. no proper cpu v cpu coach mode..... and yes i know its in the settings but have you tried it? The QB's lose all of their pocket movement, scrambling and will only hand the ball off on read options.... EVERY TIME! It's like there is different logic being used for the USER AI and the CPU AI..... it makes no sense. We see AI QB's are able to do these things for the CPU but for the user in "coach mode" they cannot.
    6. no general run v pass coach preference settings when simming
    7. Auto subs flat out do not work when simming.... your subs will not play. I even set my QB to 90 sub out and 89 sub in because I wanted to do a two qb option system in sim..... nope. Backup never sees the field even though my starter was out there running the option every play and should have been subbed out at 90%.
    8. xp sliders have little to no effect on player progression. I have put all of my position players down to 2 on the xp scale and there are still monster gain up to the low 80's, and then they taper off. This is why we have so much parody in the league and why there are no dominant teams and why upsets are happeneing so much..... ratings are all watered down and everyone is a high 70-low 80 at minimum..... oh and this is with coach xp at slowest.... if I turn that up at all we start to get ridiculous levels of training boost stacking for the entire league.

There are so many more.... I am just tired. Feel free to add your favorite ones to the rant.

And at the end of the day, this game still finds a way to be fun! Here is to hoping they take fixing this seriously and show some pride in their attention to detail!

  • I agree with everything mentioned above and I have found 11 & 12 to be the most frustrating!

    I have also noticed some other glitches.

    1. when selecting players on the roster. It will highlight one player, but open up the information for a different player.
    2. Within recruiting > team needs, when switching between offense, defense, and special teams, the bottom totals only match the previous section you were at. For example, if I start by viewing Offense, but then switch to view Defense, the totals on the bottom show the Offense.

    PLEASE ADD THESE FEATURES

    1. In addition to the numeric roster view, can you add a view that shows players' badges and Dev trait?
    2. In Dynasty, can a filter be added to the recruiting board to hide committed players? Towards the middle of the season, it becomes annoying to scroll through everyone over and over again.
    3. In Dynasty, can a filter be added to the Prospect List to hide players who are not eligible for recruitment? What I mean by not eligible for recruitment, is players who are already in their top 8 or top 5 and don't have the users team in the top 8 or top 5. Also, players that are already committed and players that have a dealbreaker that the user's team does not meet. This would allow players to filter through solely eligible prospects.
    4. In Dynasty, please add some percentage boosts to the coaching abilities, because it is impossible to compare anything due to assuming everything about the impact.
    5. In Dynasty, there is no way to see what player is getting projected to be drafted. The only thing close to it is in the Recruiting board > My School tab and under the Pro Potential icon, it shows the number of players projected for each round. It would be nice to know what players are getting projected to be drafted and where.
    6. In Dynasty, it would be helpful if within the Manage Staff section, you could view what coaches are eligible for replacement before deciding to fire a coach.

    2. In the recruiting board section, within the team needs view (click R stick down), the bottom subtotals only show the previous section. For example, if you start viewing the offense and then switch to defense, the bottom subtotals will represent the offense’s subtotals.

    Please add these features!

    1. In the roster view, in addition to the numeric ratings it would be helpful to have a view that shows each player’s physical badges, mental badges, and their development trait.

    2. In the roster view, it'd be helpful to show the player’s development trait along with their physical and mental badges.

    3. In the depth chart, please add a way to view the player card from the depth chart.

    4. In Dynasty, within the Recruiting Board, please add a button to hide players who have already committed to my team. Maybe pressing L stick down or a D-pad arrow.

    5. In Dynasty, within the Recruiting Board, and in the Prospect List section, please add a button to hide players who are not eligible for recruitment. Meaning, to hide players who have committed elsewhere, have a deal breaker that my team doesn't meet, or have excluded my team from their top 8/top 5.

    6. In Dynasty, there is no way to view what players are getting projected in the draft. The only way to view projected drafted players is in the Recruiting Board, and in the My School section, under the Pro Potential icon. This only shows how many players are projected to be drafted. It would be helpful to add the list of the player’s names that are getting projected to be drafted.

  • Despite still having a lot of fun with this game, it is hard to argue with the IGN review's conclusion.

    "I understand that College Football 25 is a massive undertaking, and EA hasn’t made a game like this in a long time, but the whole thing feels rushed, incomplete, and in many ways – especially off the field – not up to par with Madden, much less the other sports games that Madden already wasn’t up to par with. Which is basically all of them. Oh, and I really don’t appreciate seeing an Ultimate Team pop-up every time I exit any game mode, including Ultimate Team. I know it’s there, EA. We all do. I just don’t want to play it."

     

    It is just so, so many little things that it is impossible to believe that EA just was unaware of before releasing (Like that god damn top-5 visit glitch) that make this feel, unfortunately, like...a typical EA game.

     

    A lot of promise, some good things, but so half-baked and buggy, and with obvious incentives intended to funnel you towards microtransactions. At least the microtransaction emphasis isn't as bad as 2K's basketball games.

     

    But there are SO MANY little issues. 

     

    Like when a player of mine wins Player of the Week, why am I limited to three stats to view? A QB will show you his passing yards, his touchdowns and his completion percentage. What if he's a running QB? Why the arbitrary limit of this box to three items? When you look at the Heisman rankings, why does it only show the most recent game? There are just so many baffling decisions.

    On the position change screen, what is the # column?   What does that mean, exactly? 

    there are so many questions like this about simple details.  This era of leave everything up to the community to figure it out is absurd.  I see wrong answers or conflicting answers in a regular basis.
