I did find one work around, but it requires you to be in the game for a year for it to work. If you do end of year position changes, changing someone to a new position and back changes them to the correct archetypes. But it only works with the actual position change function. Doing it in edit player does nothing.

Yeah as @Vulkeg mentioned the end of year position change is the only known way to fix it. Super lame because now I'm just making all my players freshman and redshirting the ones I want to keep and calling the first year a wash.

Yeah, but this would be a non-issue if we had even basic character editing...
