Suggestion: Add a Physical/Press CB Archetype to Match Physical WRs

Hi EA Team,

I’d like to suggest adding a Physical/Press CB archetype to future EA football titles like Madden and College Football 25. Currently, we have the Man, Zone, and Slot CB archetypes, but none of them fully reflect the role and skill set of cornerbacks who thrive on physicality at the line of scrimmage. This addition would bring balance to the archetype system, especially since there is already a Physical WR archetype in the game.

Why a Physical/Press CB Archetype Makes Sense

Just like Physical WRs use size and strength to dominate, some CBs rely on their physicality to disrupt routes and win contested matchups. These corners excel in press coverage, particularly against big-bodied receivers. However, the current archetypes don’t accurately capture these players’ unique play style, leaving a gap in defensive strategy.

Key Attributes for a Physical/Press CB Archetype

Here’s what could define this archetype:

1. Press: The core attribute, as these CBs specialize in jamming receivers at the line of scrimmage and throwing off their timing.

2. Strength: Essential for winning physical battles with larger WRs.

3. Man Coverage: Necessary for maintaining tight coverage after the initial press.

4. Size and Jumping: Helps defend against fade routes, jump balls, and red-zone threats from Physical WRs.

5. Pursuit and Tackling: Many Physical CBs contribute in run support and need these attributes to shed blocks and bring down ball carriers.

6. Awareness: While not the defining trait, it helps in reacting to WR adjustments, especially against quick releases.

Gameplay Benefits

Adding a Physical/Press CB archetype would:

Provide more defensive options when countering Physical WRs like DK Metcalf or Mike Evans.

Create a balanced player archetype system by mirroring the existing Physical WR archetype.

Diversify defensive strategies, allowing teams to deploy CBs based on matchups (e.g., Physical CBs for big WRs, Agile CBs for quicker WRs).

Comparison with Existing Archetypes

Man CBs are finesse players who rely on agility and speed.

Zone CBs prioritize positioning and awareness over physical matchups.

Slot CBs are quick and versatile but lack the size and strength to counter Physical WRs on the boundary.

A Physical/Press CB archetype would fill the gap by focusing on traits like press, strength, and tackling, giving users a better tool to defend against bigger, more physical WRs.

Adding this archetype would improve the realism and strategic depth of the game, making matchups between CBs and WRs even more dynamic. I hope you’ll consider it for future updates or titles. Thanks for your time!
